Fun times. Chris's parents actually thought they were so very important and the irony being it's only because of those very beliefs that they are so important.

That's essentially what it is. They're using the principle of statistical averaging, where they estimate a small percentage of people that pay up more than cover the cost of buying a large amount of debt that will never be paid. Overall, they should come out ahead even if they don't break even on some debt purchases, but come out further ahead than expected with others. If they don't come out ahead, they suck at what they are doing and should go out of business.

And once they've tried as much as they care to they turn around and sell the remaining debt to someone else to recoup some of what they couldn't collect. It is sometimes referred to as "zombie debt" because it keeps coming back.

What is to Chris if some people never get their money back? What is it to a selfish man child like him if he hurt his mother or made the world disgusted with him?

Is it any skin off his ass if 14 BC goes into foreclosure and his mother has nowhere to go except the charity of relatives she has never truly been kind to? No.

No it isn't and Chris will continue to pay his debt to society by being closely monitored and kept offline.

It isn't so much to punish him anymore as it is just to keep him and everyone else around him safe.

I agree with everything you said, however, there's another aspect to this that's even worse.

Chris doesn't care about that stuff because he knows there's no punishment involved. In fact, after fucking Barb, his life got easier since he had zero bills, he hasn't had to clean or do "adult stuff", and hell, he doesn't even have to buy food anymore unless it's candy and shit. Not only has jail helped Chris to not "adult" anymore, but they removed a good deal of his "stressors" that he dealt with.

And... after two years, they just aren't cutting him loose, they're even providing more stuff so Chris can put off adulting. I wonder if, Chris refusing to learn or do anything will just keep him in these programs longer, if that's the case, then not only will he get his tardbux, which won't be needed to go towards living like a normal person, but the system will just expend more resources to keep him inside.

Chris is probably coming out of this smelling like roses, and won't have the attitude that doing something monstrously horrible is "wrong" because "jail wasn't such a scary place". So unless he fucks up and gets to go to actual prison, this is probably the best few years Chris has ever had since he hasn't had to do much of anything. I have a feeling he didn't even say he was sorry or show remorse.

So unless he fucks up and gets to go to actual prison, this is probably the best few years Chris has ever had since he hasn't had to do much of anything. That's sort of the problem with jail or prison. A relatively normal and salvageable person is probably going to be so traumatized by it that they'll come out of it even more fucked up and possibly had to learn to get good at violence just to survive. At best, they'll have picked up more crime tips.

But then you also have fucked up retards like Chris whose life is already so fucked up it doesn't even get worse for them in jail. He can live in his cretinous fantasy world just as well in jail as outside and in fact his life might even be improved by just having some structure put on him. But being the colossal asshole and low-functioning retard that he is, it's not like he'll actually learn anything from it.

About the only good thing about imprisoning a jackass mongoloid like Chris is is that he's not raping anyone while actually behind bars. I have zero faith that he has even learned "don't rape people" as a lesson.

The part that he almost certainly didn't like was the psych hospital forcing him to take meds. His release is likely predicated on the basis of him continuing to take his meds. The meds are going to make him more "connected" (for lack of a better word) to reality, which I am sure he doesn't enjoy. Chris and reality always seemed to be at odds. So, it didn't come up all sonichu and asspats for him in the end. Although, considering what he did, and how it turned out, it could have been far worse.
