DMs are a common feature of forum software and have a legitimate use for members to exchange info that should not be made public such as phone numbers, email addresses and other sensitive information.

Agreed. Sometimes you just want to talk offsite about whatever and there are reasons for it that have nothing to do with degeneracy. You just want to talk in private without disruptive retards being added to your chat.

Yes. I have church, a job, family, etc. But on the old internet, people just met each other off of forums and thought absolutely zero of it. This forum is extremely schitzo in that it does provide a huge public service, but also makes users so paranoid of each other, they can't even. It is bizarre.

You can absolutely trust me with your private information, especially with your bank account and pin code. DMs are always open.
Besides that, DMs are useful when I wanna continue talkingto a user about a topic that came up in a thread but further talk in the thread would just derail the thread.
Or when you make a post in the community happenings thread but you fucked up a link or forgot to link to a discussion. Then I drop you a DM so you can fix it and won't get banned from the thread if Null is in some bad mood.
Some people also use DMs to work on a thread together so a cow can not DFE before the OP goes live. Not me tho bc I don't do threads but if I think you are cool user I might send you a surprise DM with some cute cat pics just because.

Obviously you didn't read that very carefully before commenting, KiwiFarms is NOT the only forum in existence and some online forum communities have a need to share personal and somewhat confidential information with other users, hence the need for DMs. KiwiFarms DMs are useful for sharing and compiling information on lolcows and other subjects prior to thread creation, I know because I have been part of such DMs.

It's not possible to to remove people, the only permitted action he could perform was to lock the DMs, which he did.
Locked DMs will self destruct in 30 days due to inactivity.
