Catholic priest says Democrats are going to hell — and Texas bishop backs him up

A Wisconsin priest who condemned Catholic Democrats has the support of a Texas bishop.

Father James Altman, pastor of St. James the Less Catholic Church, lashed out at Father James Martin, who participated in the Democratic National Convention. In a 10-minute video posted to YouTube, Altman called the priest a “hyper, confusing spreading heretic” and had harsh words toward Democrats.

“Here is a memo to clueless baptized Catholics out there: You cannot be Catholic and be a Democrat. Period,” Altman said in the video posted Aug. 30. “The party platform absolutely is against everything the Catholic Church teaches, so just quit pretending that you’re Catholic and vote Democrat. Repent of your support of that party and its platform or face the fires of hell.”

Tyler, Texas, Bishop Joseph Strickland tweeted his endorsement of Altman’s statement.

“My shame is that it has taken me so long,” Strickland said Sept. 5 of the video. “Thank You Fr. Altman for your COURAGE.”

Strickland’s tweet has garnered more than 3,800 likes and 1,700 retweets as of Sept. 8.

Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden is well-known to be a devout Catholic and grew up practicing the religion at parishes and parochial schools in Pennsylvania and Delaware, according to the National Catholic Reporter.

Martin, a Vatican consultant, said on Twitter last week he overheard priests saying voting for Biden is a “mortal sin.” He rebuked that claim and urged priests to stop using such language.

“It is not a sin to vote for either Mr. Biden or Mr. Trump,” Martin said. “Nor is it a sin to be Democrat or Republican.”

A Pew Research poll last month found white Catholics support President Donald Trump for reelection by a margin of 19 points, but Hispanic Catholics overwhelmingly support Biden, according to the Catholic News Agency.

It is the one, holy, and apostolic Church, I'm sorry to hear that you have strayed but fear not, you can repent of your sins and reconcile with God and the Church today. As long as you are living it is never too late.

Wrong. The One True Church is actually the World Mission Society Church of God, headed by God the Mother, Jang Gil-ja. Well, that or some brand of Evangelicalism.

1. The National Catholic Reporter is a Leftist jizzrag that does nothing but shit on faithful Catholics (not to be confused with the in-good-standing National Catholic Register).

2. James Martin is a Jesuit and a homo.

3. Joe Biden has been denied the Eucharist for supporting abortion, and Kamala Harris called the Knights of Columbus an "extremist group" (because the boomers who organize parish picnics and food drives threaten muh reproductive rights an' sheeit). He's only a "devout Catholic" in the sense that he's an establishment-approved "Catholic" who upholds the teachings of the world than of Christ.

to be fair to biden and other political catholics, he's come out and said he doesn't support abortion but has to for political reasons. . i'm sure there are republican catholics who're going to have to explain why they support the various wars or taking away welfare from the needy or helping the rich get richer.

I've come to learn that being denied the eucharist isn't something to be haughty over. what's important is that the person is able to come back and communion. etc etc.

You latins have a saint named St. Mark Ji Tianxiang (and i'm sure more) that was denied the eucharist for 30 years.

*laughs in Lutheran*

a womanly, faggoty laugh.

The Democrats have not been the party of John Fitzgerald Kennedy for a long long time.

(Not since Reagan and the religious and conservative Democrats were abandoned by the party when they moved farther left in the 70s, This caused the Democrats as a whole to be seen as weak against, or supportive of, Communism and Socialism, which they were. The Dems had serious losses for 20 years, until Russian Communism collapsed in 1991 and communism was no longer seen as a hot political issue. Bill Clinton was elected the next year. )

Poor Jack Kennedy. He would be disgusted with what his party has become. Of course, if he were alive today they'd likely call him a fascist. Anti-Communist, believed in American exceptionalism, pro-gun, strongly believed in people being hard working and self-reliant...he'd probably become a Republican today.

Face it! The See of Rome has been vacant since the death of Pius XII. The tenets of Vatican II are new doctrine, directly and flagrantly opposed to Catholic traditions, most notably of sole salvation within the Church, and fail the tests for infallibility set out under pastor aeternus.

If Lincoln's statues are on the chopping block than every president before Obama is a fascist.

Give it 10 years and Obama will be called a fascist but for retarded reasons.

If this man is a devout Catholic, I'm Simon Peter.

I haven't really strayed that much, I just don't attend church any longer. If I want my kids molested, I know who to call.
Your neighborhood school?

"Now, I'm personally not okay with snuffing out the lives of the children well before they can take their first gasp of air because some dope can't even tolerate the feel of latex when they decide to do the only act capable of creating new life while they have no intentions to reproduce, buuuuuuut my political party is really into Moloch sacrifice for some reason so my hands are tied and I'm not even gonna bother drawing the line at 'rare'."

I really couldn't care less about what Joe Biden allegedly "personally believes" when he just signs off on it all and the best he can muster as a pander to his religious voting base is some dopey line about how he prays that women don't take abortion as an option even though he's in a position to mitigate such trends. Even if he wanted to say "keep abortion legal" (and I don't think banning abortion will really solve the issues surrounding it), he doesn't even propose legislation to guide the culture towards acknowledging the humanity of the fetus in order to order abortion discussion around that fact (whether you talk about aborting the child to save the life of the mother, in the case of rape, in the case of socioeconomic instability, etc.), because he just doesn't care, because he never cared, because the likes of him wouldn't have lasted long as a career politician if he tried.

Not Catholic, but

1) depends on the purpose of the specific war
2) continued welfare to the point of comfort (which is relative to one's living circumstances) can lead to the individual being overly reliant on the state to their detriment (i.e. no hope of social mobility)
3) there's only something wrong with this if it's at the cost of the less rich; that aside, I'm not sure if most would recognize themselves as supporting an increasing economic inequality

Any of these things are on a different class than murder, though.

No, seriously. And no replacements either.

When I was kid my local priest (yes Catholic) was a hard drinking anti China, anti Turk, anti Jew (Ironic I know) son of a bitch that redpilled me on the Byzantium issue in between molestation sessions.
I was wondering where all the based preachers went.

I said in another thread that history is written by the victors. Abraham Lincoln is a clear example of that. Since the Union won the Civil War/War of Northern Aggression, history was written to paint Lincoln as "the Great Emancipator" and completely ignore that he didn't give a tin shit about slaves and would have happily allowed it to continue if it meant forcing the South to rejoin the North. Reunification was the only thing he cared about, and history tends to ignore the outright tyrannical things Lincoln did in that pursuit. Things like marching the Union Army into the capital of states to forcibly remove their governors and state legislatures and installing puppet governments to keep them from joining the CSA because Lincoln was terrified of DC being surrounded by Confederate States. So Lincoln was kind of a proto-Fascist in those regards, but he's been propped up to be this great man and is the only Republican that most Lefties like.
