This project absolutely deserves to fail, yet I don’t think it will. The Rooster Teeth thread went through this with another “black woman directed short”, the campaign looked like it was dead in the water until at the last minute it made up tens of thousands for no reason.

She still has about $23,000 more to reach the goal with five days to go. She'll have to get about $4,600 every day just to make it. So either some rich troon with enough fuck-you money goes all-in, or she's finding out the hard way that only about a thousand people are somewhat interested in her shit but only a third of that at best was ever going to officially support the release.
The magical girl Pen Pals failed to garner any support despite her crying, and that might've been because she was asking for almost 150K. Maybe that bitch should've showed off more traced Sailor Moon frames.
EDIT: I've also noticed they have about the same amount of backers, too. There really is just only about ~1000 genderspecial yurifags in the industry, aren't there?

Been thinking that it doesn't really matter if Pearl gets full funding or not. She fails to procure the money, or she's successful, it doesn't matter at the end of the day. Her work is still going to be considered a failure and mocked/swiftly forgotten simply because there's no real merit, no real backbone to the show outside of it being "queer roller skating Sailor Moon ripoff". How the hell do you even make a full season out of it, let alone a compelling web comic/graphic novel?
It won't matter if she gets this show off the ground or not. She's still going to throw huge hissy fits over the slightest sigh of criticism, and that's where the most quantities of milk will come from.
Also, just watch: the animation and color palette is still going to be a complete shitty eyesore. And that's before you get into what will obviously have poor voice-acting and writing.

There was an article that did the rounds in A&N and the various tabletop rpg threads recently where someone had looked into the assorted drama in those circles. One of the points mentioned in there that is as true in the cartoon industry was that these people are all competing with one another and the failure of one can lead to the success of others, essentially only infinite opportunity would allow all of them to get their treasured shows produced and there is not that much funding or interest to go round. So the sperging remains the same no matter how many of those shows we get.

A good mix of clout chasing for social approval and terminally online social media addiction. They spend much of their time on xitter and follow like minded people and the algorithm sends them all of the same stuff they'll feel validated by.
They're in a bubble where they don't go out and meet regular everyday people and assume that everyone has the same ideas as in their social media bubble.

If you look on the Twatter/Ex of the woke cartoonists crying over Palestinians, their timelines are very empty on October 7th. They never really cared about what's happening in the middle east and are just following the crowd cause 'Oppressed Brown People = Good'. Wait, is there any discussion of a buyer in talks to pick this up? Because a whole lot of pilots sit rotting on shelves when studios aren’t feeling new properties. I mean, maybe she’s got a guardian angel on the inside. But if that was the case, why go through the public melodrama of crowdfunding?
