i just don't understand why they feel the need to shoehorn in gay and homo shit into kids media. we didn't have none of that shit in ed, edd n eddy or courage the cowardly dog
It was best used for more adult animated sitcoms like Simpsons, Beavis & Butthead, South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, Aqua Teen, American Dad, etc., and not in kids shows.

A lot of these people in animation came from Tumblr, who coddled themselves in childhood nostalgia while thinking about munching carpet/getting dicked in the ass. The crossed wires meant they started thinking "Man, I wish I had all this gay shit when I was a gay kid before I knew I was totally gay. I need to leave something behind for the future gay kids to enjoy so they won't have to think about killing themselves over the lack of a gay childhood like I am right now."

Except kids aren't watching their gay shit, not willingly anyway.

Toddlers watch Teletubbies for the colorful visuals and not for the messages of homosexuality, gun violence or racism. I think this is what the animation industry should've understand.

Crossposting this from the Disney thread.
I saw a leak of the first episode of Pixar's new "Win or Lose" series, and surprise surprise, the plot is about one of the kids on the team being a troon and trying to feel comfortable using the girl's bathroom despite puberty causing his voice to deepen. A very relatable struggle for kids aged 6-11.

Why are modern writers too mentally stunted to think of any message that goes beyond sexuality or gender identity?

The Nick Jr. reference really kicks it in high gear for me.

I know it's Spongebob and any resemblance of biological fact went out of the window with the very basic premise of a kitchen sponge being the main character, but the idea of a starfish getting bits lopped off is just... the mind boggles.

Also, it implies there are two more Patricks going around, grown out of his lopped-off moobs. Squidward on suicide watch.
