They make it sound like he was running some kind of sex slave cult up there at Pixar. It's especially ironic when followed up with that "you don't know what you're talking about" comment. And that was a telling 'I'm rubber you're glue' moment in itself.

All this really just proves is Lasseter was pushed out of Disney and Pixar simply because he actually gave a damn about quality and was a gatekeeper to make sure ideology bullshit didn't get through into their movies.

I’m pretty sure Lasseter is somewhat liberal in his beliefs, but he was smart enough to not let that seep into his movies.

That being said, the allegations confused me when they first came out, and they honestly still do. If he was such a “problematic” figure, why are people like Glen Keane so eager to work with him at his new studio? Who even are the people that accused him in the first place?

The lack of a public accusation and the relative vagueness of things makes me feel he was #MeToo'd just to get him out of the way and get someone else in his position.

John Lasseter is actually a product of his time and the main reason why he was #MeToo’d was because he was a part of wanting to be a mentor to the new age Disney animators that wanted to express themselves in the most progressive mindset.

Lasseter’s first mistake was thinking that new found talent in Disney in the last decade was filled with people who hold the original Walt Disney and Pixar of the old in a high manner. Personally, I’m glad John is back to doing what he was talented at doing, but at the same time realizing that he should have realized that these new “recruits” of wanting to work in an L.A.based Disney area was not the best idea in a creative sense.

Jokes on them though because the money will flow wherever the good movies are, so really it was a foolish and costly financial loss.

The PPG 2016 reboot had it, so did: Clarence, Steven Universe (but that was a bit before that style would be seen everywhere) Big City Greens, Craig Of The Creek, We Bear Bears (idk how you spell it i dont care), and lots of others I don't care to mention. I wanna see an artstyle that isn't the same overly-rounded minimalistic artwork

I see modern shows like Villainous that don't carry that same jaded artstyle, but that's once in a rare blue moon. A lot of modern cartoons are just the exact same show.

Most shows on Adult Swim currently have artstyles that seem to dodge what people call the "Cal Arts" style

Probably because they only care about getting paid by the studio otherwise they'll strike, so they don't even care about putting any effort in making the art unique.

At least it's good to know that Upcoming CN shows like Unicorn: Warriors Eternal won't have that stupid style.

And I'm very late to this, but about the Craig Of The Creek stuff, just watch them put a kid with twenty neopronouns into the show. Can't wait to see that. Surely they're going to do it at some point, gotta include every minority possible, am I right??

It makes me upset to see Craig of The Creek turn into a virtue signaling dumpster fire. I always thought it looked like a nice little slice of life cartoon when it first aired. The premise of a group of kids using their imaginations to turn their neighborhood into a fantasy land was fun and reminded me of KND. They even did a crossover with Deltron 3030 a few years ago which was pretty crazy. Maybe it's just me, but all the forced progressive bullshit like "black ASL" feels so sudden It's almost like they're trying to please the suits and not get cancelled. That's my theory at least.

The part that really made me laugh was that "oh, it's easier to animate!", as if people hadn't been animating incredibly complex things for decades before this hack got her first job. Ever heard of the Itano Circus?

This shit was being hand animated in the fucking 80s. Did it need larger teams of animators? Absolutely. But at least every frame in an action sequence was its own drawing and not just "now I'll just click this and hope the animation path gives me the movement I want".

Simple doesn't equal appealing. Hell, if that were true wouldn't we see a lot more kids liking this kind of character?

See, what it really is that the beanface 'blob' art style makes it easier to make and sell toys to kids. You can just create a basic mold and then paint whatever character you want over it. Simple, cost effective, and it pleases the calarts banshees. (Basically Funko Pops in a nutshell.)

The simpler the art, the cheaper/easier/faster better it looks when it gets sent overseas to get animated from scribbled storyboard art.

God, I wish we could go back to geometry/wacky art styles.

The reason calarts is so popular is because it's cheap and it's quick to do. This minimizes production time and maximizes profits for the bigwigs upstairs. This is a good chunk of why calarts and minimalistic art is here to stay, essentially forever.

The comments of the video are exactly the demographic you described. But yeah, I remember being really uncomfortable with that scene now that I've seen it again. I was around 10 when this movie came out and it just made me feel weird. Not like aroused weird, but just really gross and weird, like when you see something you weren't supposed to and wish you could unsee it. Rugrats is total gross out humor which is why I liked it so much as a kid, but that scene went above and beyond gross out humor and seeing it again as an adult... It's so blatant what they did I feel gross. Also I just wanna show everyone the foot card I keep talking about.

there's a rumour that Tommy Pickles is named after Tommy from the DPF.
