Disaster Canada loses its bid for seat on UN Security Council - Trudeau on suicide watch

Article:

Despite an intense and costly diplomatic push, Canada has lost its bid for a coveted seat on the United Nations Security Council.

Norway and Ireland won the two available temporary seats, with 130 and 128 votes respectively. Canada won 108 votes, falling 20 short of the 128 needed to win a spot at the table.

It's a heavy blow for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne and other high-level officials who had been reaching out to political leaders around the world in a campaign to secure one of the two available rotating seats.

The Security Council holds ten seats for temporary members that join the table for two-year terms. The council has five permanent members — the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia and China — which have the power to veto resolutions.

Pro-Palestinian groups blame Canada's Middle East policies for its failure to secure a seat. Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) issued a statement saying the defeat "proves that Canada's failure to demonstrate leadership on human rights and international cooperation has isolated it from world opinion."

"In recent months, Trudeau has also been relatively quiet on the threats of Israeli annexation, especially when compared to the vocal and long-standing condemnations from competitors Norway and Ireland," the group said.

Shortly before the results rolled in, Trudeau cited Canada's record on combating climate change, promoting peace and security and supporting developing countries and women's rights.

He said no matter what happens, Canada will continue to fight to reduce global conflict and social inequities.

Exporting Canada's values

"Canada has continued to be a strong voice on the world stage. Because this is what Canada does well and we will continue to do it," he said.

"Yes, a seat on the UN Security Council will be an additional lever and an extra way that Canada can make sure that our voice and our values are being heard at the highest levels. But we will continue to make a difference in the world and defend multilateralism, not just because it's good for the world, but because it's good for Canadians."

The federal government has spent more than $2.3 million on its bid for a seat.

Given its relatively smaller contributions to global peacekeeping and international development assistance, many observers argued Canada was facing a tough challenge from its competitors, Ireland and Norway.

Canada put forward its candidacy in 2016, about a decade after Ireland (2005) and Norway (2007) announced they were running.

Countries need the support of at least two-thirds of the General Assembly to get elected to the council.

Why exactly does anyone care about a ceremonial position elected by a tinpot dictator popularity contest? At least it's an opportunity to laugh at Trudeau I guess.

Canada doesn't really need to mess with international security. They're going to be facing a possible secession from Alberta in the next decade considering they are the bulk of the country's GDP.

Better be careful before @The Un-Clit comes and tells you how dumb you are and that Alberta is shit and has nothing to complain about.

lol, get fucked Trudeau. Even the world knows you're a useless piece of shit.

Ireland was giving UN General Assembly representatives free tickets to Bono concert to secure their votes. Canada was giving them free tickets to Celine Dion concert. No surprise Canada didn't get those votes.
You're mistaken. He offered other countries tickets to Celine Dion. Outside of the CERB shit fucking our country's funding in the long run, Princess doesn't like spending within the country.

Canada didn't make it into the security council, so what?
To be brutally frank here, the basic idea of an United Nations was surely a good one but today's UN is as worthless as the League of Nations was.
The only major threat the UN ever did react accordingly to was the Korean War and since then the UN has not prevent one conflict, one war and has done nothing so far to prevent any of those famines around the world wich killed literally tens if not hundreds of millions of people. I don't even want to start about the WHO and all the other UN subcommitees which are mostly ineffective totally corrupt self enrichment agencies for the dude who is in charge and his friends. The WHO is an absolute picture of the current UN, as in inefficient, inept and sucking it up to China for Yuan shekels, just look at them how they coverd the shit up for Winnie the pooh.
Just look at the Yugoslav Wars in the 1990's and how inept and impotent both the UN and the EU reacted to the whole situation. The whole shit show down there just ended when the Nato put an end to it by air power and direct intervention and even that had to be done under US command because the UN couldn't even agree on who should do it.
But all the peacekeeprs in Africa, you might say, yeah look at them, every African Nation which is on a peacekeeping mission there is either heavily involved in the conflict by proxies or is knee deep into arms traficking and so on and so forth.
Todays UN is nothing more than a selfcongratulatory bloated corpse with nothing to show for.

Just an example:
Taiwan is still banned from the United nations since 1971 when communist China joined the club, because everybody (specially the third worlders) is sucking Chinese dick.

Also worth mentioning the book Snakes in Suits (very good read) which had to say the following about the UN:
There are few organizations in the Western world that could survive with the allegations of mismanagement, scandal, and corruption that permeate the United Nations. For many delegates, officials, and employees, particularly those from developing nations, the UN is little more than an enormous watering hole.

TL;DR: Wether you like Trudeau or not Canada surely dodged a bullet in this case.

Wait Canada has a military? I thought they just had a bunch of beavers build dams to block the invaders and shoot hockey pucks if someone got too close.
The Canadians have the JTF2 which is a pretty badass special forces group even among special forces groups. I can't grantee that they aren't made up mostly of beavers however, due to how secretive they are.

Probably not beavers than, I'm guessing Moose. Those animals are fucking nuts in how vicious and brutal they can be, an old co-worker of mine worked in Alaska at one point in his life and he said he never left town without anything less than a 44 magnum strapped to his hip in case he came across a moose while fly-fishing. Canada could win any war by just airdropping a bunch of moose over enemy territory and letting them chase the enemy soldiers up trees.

Yay, Ireland got one! It's about time we got something.
Quit your bitching. You were already given Catholicism years ago, and if that wasn't enough, you were also given Protestantism. It's just take take take with you people.
Canada doesn’t even really exist. It‘s a social experiment played upon the world by an advanced species of moose. They can’t be part of the security council because moose can’t hold rifles, due to their hooves.
Can confirm.

Good. The Canadian government is cucked and degenerate. They should have no say in world policies.

On the other hand, fuck the UN. The UN is a corrupt and ineffective organization and is antithetical to the freedom and sovereignty of nations to remain free to navigate their own destinies. The UN and EU should both be abolished and any organization like them banned to preserve the right of nations to remain sovereign.
