KEK, better start cracking open those wallets liberal voters, looks like dear leader Carney's planning to run a GoFundMe campaign to cover the cost of repairs for Sussex drive!

Prime Minister Carney announces national competition to restore official residence at 24 Sussex Drive

Better buckle up chuds, we're about to be entering a whole new territory of blatant private/corporate interest lobbying yet to be seen in Canadistan, and entirely supported by the (liberal) public too.

And to think the same people who'll eagerly label you MapleMAGA if you complain about the government asking you ask to personally shell out a few grand in the current economy for their own luxury'll be the same ones who lost their minds over Trump's nuclear bunker ballroom being privately funded.
So, this motherfucker will send hundreds of billions of taxpayer money and borrowed money overseas into the black hole of foreign aid, but wants to fucking crowdfund repairing the official PM's residence?

I would have sympathy, but fuck soccer faggots.
You could have sympathy for the Eurocuck? I'm disappointed he didn't lose more than the passport given the midwit is treating this country like the average jeet parasite.

This has been an absolute riot watching play out. The average prog is confused how to sell it as a good thing since it's asking for private donations when, like the White House, it's perfectly reasonable funding with taxpayer cash given the importance (but lol, lmao, all is forgiven since Carney will deign to announce the donaters publicly). It's another example at how dangerous Carney is and how few proud seal clappers are willing to see the forest for the trees when it comes to his neoliberal shtick.

I hope these people have their elbows firmly locked up because the ass pounding is set to only get worse within a few months.

"Guys, the winner of the project JUST SO HAPPENED to be one of my buddies, yes yes, dont worry, your money will be very safe in his hands, no, this will not go over budget, I swear."

In the meantime down South, Trump is having the glorious Arts of War statues covered in 24k gold as part of the beautification of DC. Which, as a taxpayer, am thrilled to see happening. I’d much rather coat statues dedicated to war covered in gold than spend a single penny on a migrant or nog.

I suppose that is a very American sentiment but I also don’t know why it would be controversial to restore the residence of the PM if it’s been allowed to fall to disrepair. I do think it’s odd to ask for donations, but why wouldn’t that be kind of standard to do? Genuine question.

Note: I completely understand it’s Carney so it’ll be a scam but is there a reason it’s in bad shape to begin with?

If memory serves, by tradition the PM is supposed to suffer a bit. For example his office chair is a traditional one that is super uncomfortable but the official opposition gets to pick a really really comfy one. It makes no sense to me

I support someone actually getting the residence fixed up. It should have been done ages ago.

Instead of the Cuckservatives being austerity hawk faggots who cry about spending. There is something called prestige and you don’t want the official residence of your prime minister to be a dump.

(As hilarious as it would be if Sussex Drive was turned into a Jeet Rooming / Boarding House)

Loses a War.

Wants to build an Arc du Triumph (the arc is dedicated the amazing Mosaic defence system of Iran)

You made that shit up! That's to autistic even by Canadian Parliament standards.

24 Sussex has always kind of been a dump. The government forced a purchase of it from the original owner in the 1940s. It was nearly a century old at that point. It's only been the official residence since the mid 1950s. Prior to that PMs just had their own house. Like the Laurier House which is worth a tour.

The building itself is just a money pit and in all honesty, should be torn down. There are almost no photos of it, because it's hideous. It also serves as only a PMs residence. Despite its size it is unsuitable to hosting official functions or dignitaries. Compared to 10 Downing St in the UK which is the PMs office and private apartments. Doing double duty as an actual office building where most of the PMs staff is. The White House has the President's home, West Wing which houses the oval office. The East Wing, soon to be ballroom with the Presidential bunker underneath. Compare that to 24 Sussex which is just an old crumbling mansion.

In all honesty there should be something that serves as residence and official offices for the PM and staff. With a space for hosting dignitaries. Right now we use the Mariott.

The only thing good about 24 Sussex is the walk to barefax.

Monterrey is a better place to live than Toronto at this point.

The PM’s residence should reflect the level of prestige of the nation itself.

To that end, I suggest the PM should reside in the Morel 6 out by the airport, in a single with no AC and a broken TV.

The BC condo bailout is the gift which keeps on giving. CBC is left trying to carry water and has the temerity to come out with this choice remark:

In a letter to the House ethics committee, Poilievre says a program to possibly help finance the purchase of 2,200 vacant condos amounts to a "condo bailout" for developers, bankers and investors.

After all the noise over the Libs forking over taxpayer money you'd imagine the average boomer CBC reader could see the bullshit being spewed (all to try and needle the Cons), but you know they'll eat this up because of course anything which comes out of approved media is the absolute truth.

Just them collapse, they gambled, lost and now the tax payer shouldn't cover their ass. The longer you put these things off, the worse it gets.

Companies need to fail, so that better, smarter companies can enter the market in their place. Preventing this, rewards bad business practices and poor leadership. If you postpone the collapse for too long with too many bailouts. Then competition leaves the industry or gets bought out by the bad company as the industry consolidates. Unable to compete with the poorly managed receivers of government largesse. So the crash becomes bigger and there is no one to take the place of the failed company. So you lose years of productivity as another company moves into to service the market having to grow from nothing. Or, the industry just ceases to exist in any meaningful way.
