Not only is hockey a true rich kids sport these days (equipment cost alone precludes something like 95% of all school-age children), but the average player scouted for professional play is going to pick an American team if they have any choice given the salary, location, and difference in team fans (ask the average Habs player what they think of the crowd during home games).

We have let our so-called national sport atrophy because we are more concerned with vibes, feels, and nostalgia over past achievements than actual results, and with ensuring the politically correct groups get all the funding rather than those whom matter more on the international stage. Why fund men's hockey and ensure a stable pipeline of talent when you can virtue signal, subsidize, and glaze via copious CBC media pieces women's hockey? Who cares if it doesn't amount to anything so long as the right people are clapping over your devotion to the right causes and the appropriate consultants are receiving a taxpayer-funded paycheque? Just ignore how we also happen to absolutely fail at women's hockey when it matters most with next to no talent in the backlog necessary to keep the Olympic medals coming.

Toyota has two plants in SW ontario, The Woodstock (Camrys) assembly and the one In Cambridge (RAV4, Lexus rebadged RAV4's) there's a Ford plant in Burlington and GM has a Truck plant out in Oshawa.

The GM plant in Ingersoll was a joint venture between Suzuki and GM in the 1990's, where GM would make poverty spec Suzukis (Think Geo Metros) rebadged as Chevrolet products.

Nowadays that plant is effectively shuddered making a handful of those electric Brightdrop vans a week.
