I cannot reconcile how Canadians are mad that Trump wants car manufacturers back in the US (while the sales are in the US and don’t get me started on the fact that Canada only had an “auto industry” because NAFTA fucked over the American factories leading to the massive factory closures in the rust belt) but are fine with Chinese EV’s completely fucking over what’s left of that industry in Canada. Especially when there doesn’t even seem to be a demand for cheap electric vehicles at all.

Canadians are kind of retarded, especially the old boomer kind. Nations like to use Canada as a backdoor into the American market. Something the US detests. Which makes Canada an industrial drop shipper.

China is hoping to infiltrate the American market on EVs this way. Either through parts are slow creep. It wouldn't shock me if Canada's surveillance bill that mandates a government backdoor is also at the behest of China. There is nothing China would love more than to get access to every company's crypto infrastructure.

China isn’t going to be making these cars in Canada and China's entire strategy is flooding other nations with cheap product that they overproduce. How is that benefitting the Canadian economy at all? That’s also ignoring the security issues with these cars sending all the data back to China.

That seems to be acceptable to Canadians but how dare America want American workers to build cars sold primarily to American consumers. I just don’t understand that cognitive dissonance.

One of the big reasons for NAFTA even being drafted is that Ford had moved production of some cars to Mexico already and was shipping them to the Euro market. They wanted to ship those Mexican cars back to the US and Canada. It's also why Ford has a foothold in Europe. GM was struggling under pension obligations and wanted to get away from UAW and CAW(Now called UNIFOR). They also believed they could break into the Euro market like Ford did.

Mexico was willing to let them do whatever the fuck they wanted which is always appealing. In response Canada crashed the dollar to 75 cents to keep manufacturers in the country. Although every level of government and the union soon sucked all that money up.

The southern US started to become more appealing as money stretched further down there and slowly has built up over the last 20 years. Ontario and the federal government has gotten more and more dysfunctional with rapid, unpredictable changes in policy and law making everyone leery about investing in Canada. No one wants to build a factory and then have every native band sue for a bribe as they claim it is sacred soil. No one wants to start production and then get slapped with a sudden carbon tax that eats up any profit you were making.

This is a wild train of thought. It's more than just raw ability, it comes down to training systems and the expertise therein. Canada will never be a cricket superpower, or even competitive. I’ve had this discussion elsewhere. For countries where soccer is a big thing, the powers that be push this line of thinking directly and indirectly all the time, and it works very well.

They enmesh ‘anti-racist’ programs into the sport from the grassroots up so any kids getting into it are indoctrinated from a young age.

It’s a form of soft power. Works the same with the NBA and NFL in the US. Hey retard Southwestern Ontario is part of the Rust Belt. From Hamilton down to Windsor and back up to Sarnia. Canada was hit just as hard with NAFTA all the auto factories fucked off to Mexico (namely Ford and GM)

Chrysler still has a plant in Windsor. The only other major auto plants in Canada is the Toyota plant in Ingersoll (between London and Woodstock) and the Honda plant up near Alliston (just south of Barrie, North of Toronto)
