Canadians should check elsewhere because they would have surprised Pikachu faces to see how many countries view them and it's not the stereotypical image of mounty on horse anymore.
Impossible for them since ice nigs tend to live in their delusional, ever-browning bubble of CBC news and self-righteous, fart-huffing superiority beliefs.

That's another reason the gov is pushing a "the rest of the world is bigoted" rhetoric because it keeps people ignorant of what the rest of the world is like, so people don't get direct comparisons to Canada and its issues. From what I've seen, Canadians used to travel a good enough despite being broke, so money is only a part of the issue. Only authoritarian countries do this, so Canada is going backwards, in a similar manner to what Turkey is doing right now.

It's a safe bet none of those jobs will go to White Canadians. Remember all those Indian migrants that've been immigrating over the decades? Their kids are entering their teenage years now. Where do you think those second-generation Canadians will get jobs?

I have mixed feelings about this.

On one hand if a Jeet has spent decades raising their kids in Canada then even their kids should know that working at Tim Hortons is bottom rung Dalit work and should be aiming for something higher.

On the other hand, literally the entire point of the controversy is that these jobs should be for Canadian born kids as their first jobs to get into the workforce

So the federal government is pushing c-22 to be law by June 19th.

OTTAWA — Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree says he wants his embattled bill facilitating police and intelligence agencies’ ability to intercept and collect personal information to be law by June 19.

“My expectation is to get it done before we rise. I want this as law before we rise,” Anandasangaree told National Post Wednesday about his Bill C-22.

Man, as if Juneteenth wasn’t already a stupid holiday.

Welp, see ya’ll in the Gulags, even if realistically I’d like to at least pretend they’d have us relatively low on the priorities list…

"Unexpectedly"

The media spin on this is already in high gear (key quotes below):
The Canadian economy stalled in the first quarter of the year, posting a small annualized decline in gross domestic product as the country struggles to grow in the face of trade tensions with the United States.

Canada’s real GDP contracted 0.1 per cent on an annualized basis between January and March, Statistics Canada reported Friday. This was much weaker than the 1.5-per-cent growth predicted by economists at the Bank of Canada and on Bay Street, and follows a 1-per-cent annualized decline in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth is sometimes referred to as a “technical recession.” However, economists cautioned that it may be premature to use the term, as the first-quarter decline was small, and could easily be revised upwards.

The last time the country saw back-to-back quarterly declines in GDP was at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The Canadian economy has now contracted in three of the past four quarters.

“While there will be plenty of debate over whether this constitutes a recession (we would say ‘no, not really’), there is little debate that the economy has struggled to make any headway over the past year amid the ongoing trade conflict,” Douglas Porter, chief economist at the Bank of Montreal, wrote in a note to clients.

On a per capita basis, GDP rose 0.2 per cent compared to the previous quarter, as the population declined for the second consecutive quarter on the heels of more restrictive immigration policy.
Statscan’s advanced estimate of 0.4 per cent quarterly growth in April suggests the economy began to pick-up steam at the start of the second quarter.

You know it's bad when Statscan cannot massage the numbers enough (yet) to eliminate being in a technical recession :story:

It seems not even the jeet hordes could save enough face for the ruling class...
Canada was doing better (or at least not as bad) under Trudeau, that should speak for itself.

Also Canada cannot even use the "but the GDP is up" argument to defend mass immigration like other western countries do.

(keep in mind this argument isn't a good one at all, but it's wild we're doing worse than countries known for doing bad economically like Germany)

I feel like they could’ve figured this out by asking literally anyone who’s ever worked with the Hordes. God knows half my job is unfucking their work.
Canadians are so beyond fucked. I feel for the sane ones.
Believe me, if I could afford to move South, I fucking would. Though it IS kinda funny ever new arrivals to the Horde are clocking us as a debt trap and trying to bail - I need my amusement where I can get it…

GDP is complete garbage. It's like if say Person A has a $1m house debt-free and Person B has a $2m house with a $1.5m mortgage saying that Person B is twice as rich as Person A when in reality the opposite is true

Not really; you have to factor in that most of Sock Boy's greatest numbers came from the post-pandemic recovery and TFA/international students/immigrants juicing the stats. Strip those out and it would be very similar to Carney's genius and experienced economic handling.

Also Canada cannot even use the "but the GDP is up" argument to defend mass immigration like other western countries do.
It won't take long before the usual suspects scream we need more immigration to boost these lagging stats.
