I have no clue why they claim to have national pride when they never return home except for a week in the summer. Of the ones I know, most of them fly in their parents and siblings to celebrate holidays with them.

The snowbirds are wild. My son is still young but I’m committed to my family’s wellbeing, and that means if I am lucky enough to get grandkids I plan to be live close enough to help the parents during the early years but not be under foot.

These boomers literally leave the country for half the year with barely a FaceTime call, I couldn’t be away from my family that long.

I think it stems from the good old "young people just don't want to work nowadays" coupled with the "every nationality that isn't Canadian or American (aka I don't associate with them much and have never visited their home countries) is harder working."
