“Having a television in your home is like having a Jew in your living room.”People know Canada for things like maple syrup, mounties, poutine... oh and Canadians being nice. Never heard anyone say Canada is diverse. I don't think that impression exists outside of Canada. But I could be out of touch. It sounds to me like your boomers are repeating some propaganda they've been fed from TV.
The socialized healthcare thing is kind of true but other countries have that too so it's only really special when compared directly with the US. Which makes for a lame "feature" for the country.
I dunno, I always thought Canada was nice and unique, but not because of "diversity" or "healthcare"
