Because there's simply too much tied up in Quebec. Case in point: they're one of the biggest providers of electricity for the east coast thanks to Joey Smallwood (NL premier at the time) giving them the rights to Churchill Falls. As a result, they make a lot of money in utilities and taxation for the country.

I don't like Quebec either, mainly because of the Churchill Falls business and most Quebecois I've met being cunts, but it really isn't as simple as "let them secede". First you have to pry everything from their frog hands, THEN you let them secede.

I could only imagine the painful struggle of walking their own pets around areas where stumbling drunks, crazed drug addicts and street shitters run rampant.
