Can we remove the option to private one's profile? (DO NOT MENTION LIDL DRIP IN THIS THREAD)

The other thread was derailed over Lidl Drip sperging (:politisperg:), but the private profile feature has no place on this site.

Discuss whether the private profile feature should be removed, without mentioning Lidl Drip or Lidl Drip-adjacent topics.

I think it's better to revoke the right to see other peoples profiles if you hide yours, like some socials used to do

This way you can shame them for being closed profile fags and they have an actual downside of being closed profile fags

Nah. Mocking them is better. Null is letting his users protect their privacy and to stop people from coming onto their profiles and going "FAGGOT", which is then reported, and then Null has another fucking janny mess to clean up and beat. If something is really worth yelling at another person for, take it to mass debates and @ them. If you're too cowardly to do that, you shouldn't be whining in the first place. If you want to see the post history, search their username and you'll see it chronologically. I'm only upset if I can't find a way to complement people (since I'm usually using it for that), I can dunk on them in the threads I see them in. :story:

Allowing users to have private profiles on a forum that also hosts other people’s phone numbers and home addresses is paradoxical, but it’s a necessary feature.

You only need to piss off one particularly determined retard who will make it their lifes goal to spam your profile, go through your post history, negrate all your posts, follow you into threads, gather their gang of retards and get them to do the same - completely ruining your over all user experience. Having a private profile doesn’t completely stop that from happening, but it adds an extra step for the retard.

I’d personally love it if all profiles were open cause I’m a nosy nigga, but I unfortunately understand why some users feel the need to use it.

This is nonsense. you can just look up someones name and find all their posts. You save yourself 1 extra click by having to do it this way over just clicking on a profile and going to their posts.
Oh boohoo people are negwating mee :(( not le negwates: ((( but muh precious heckin reaction score will now suffah because all these mean stickers.
If someone is bothering you then you can just ignore them. There's this soyjack faggot who keeps talking about BBC on my profile page and instead of locking my page like a bitch, I just put him on ignore. It's literally that simple.

People are lazy. If they’re triggered enough they might look the name up but I think they mostly just move on when they see it’s a private profile. Spamming the profile with BBC isn’t possible so meh, whatever.

One trashcan, fine. Hundreds of trashcans can feel like an attack. Some people are just more sensitive to those things.

You can spend your time putting x amount of users who are spamming your profile on your ignore list, or you could just private your profile with one click. That way you can spend your time here reading and posting in the threads you like without getting annoyed by some faggot spamming BBC on your profile.

Like I said, I don’t mind having mine open but I understand why some users want to keep theirs closed.

@Stan @Bryan Dunn @thegooddoctor are all cows with threads but to browse their onsite content I have to manually use the shitty search bar, this is morally incorrect.
IIRC the justification for unbreaking profile privacy was to reduce le infighting because expecting people to simply use the ignore button is asking too much, this is also morally incorrect.
Just let me stalk people conveniently damnit.

oooh nooo how horrible? Not exactly high stakes here, the only thing on the line is nothing.
If shitposts on your profile page are that big deal you can just.. press.. the button...

also @kyle2252. AT THE VERY LEAST pink triangles shouldn't be permitted private profile privileges

So not allowing anyone to post on your profile but having it remain visible is okay? It’s the exact same thing but different. I honestly don’t get why it inconveniences you so much if someone wants to be a shyboi.

If you're getting worked up over your green reddit karma going down then you're a faggot and you should get off the internet
Israel how could you. I thought we had a bonding moment over that guys foreskin, you gave me like 3 green updoots and everything :(

That's exactly what I posted you esl dullard, profiles were already safe spaces before the privacy feature was implemented if the profilee merely.. pressed.. buttons :tycesuit:
All the privating achieves is to inhibit my righteous e-stalking by compelling me to use the god awful search bar, that and vice, cowardice is a sin you see hence the offense.
