You can casually date just about anyone and make it work if you really want to but anything more serious you need important core values to match up, especially if children are ever going to be involved. It's normal to deviate on details and have to compromise a lot but if your world views are completely at odds that's beyond being able to meet in the middle for most people, I think.

Also, why someone has the politics they do is very important to think about as well. If someone has a lot of leftist politics because they think that's a genuine way to help other people regardless whether you agree. That's a very different person than an irony poisoned forever thirteen year old who just lives to spite authority figures for the sake of it.

That being said IRL most average people are not so polarized when it comes down to it. It's not as big a deal to the average normie who values having someone around they genuinely like more than politics. All the other stuff is terminally online people and those performing for the terminally online.
