It varied from polis to polis and time to time. For example, at the time of Alexander, in Rhodes, it was okay. Other places it was too at that time. Other places it wasn't. They'd even put up graffiti saying "Lysistratos (or whoever) is beautiful" etc. around town for good looking teenage boys
