In all seriousness, what is your final solution? 14 BC seems pretty fucked, but Chris' ability to be self-sufficient on a consistent, day-to-day basis seems a little low to be living on his own long term.
I have several plans. Which I end up going with depends on the particulars of the situation at the time it becomes relevant. I don't really know how bad things are so I've created multiple routes.

Supported accommodation would be the logical choice - so probably a subsidised apartment of his own where it's a condition of the lease that he has to meet with a support worker on a regular basis.

We have no idea how Chris would handle apartment living or whether he'd annoy the other residents, but I doubt there's any single dwelling supported accommodation available for a single male in his area.

Tell us about the worst case scenario.
Worst case scenario is the house is unsalvageable and everything in it is worth nothing. Chris has no fandom support structure anymore because of something he did, so helping him make money is not an option. The mortgage Barb has gotten against the equity of the house has a rate or a value that far exceeds what it is worth. The bank takes the house.

Chris will still earn a lot on SSD-I and it'd really be quite easy to just find an apartment for him nearby. He'd probably end up paying less than he's paying now to Barb to help with the fires she's started, especially if he gets on Section 8.

It's not a dire situation. He will never be homeless. He will never be on the street. There are darker scenarios that involve a criminal record or other problems that bar him from living on his own, but at that point it's out of my hands anyways.

Chris's life will improve when Barb is gone. I think he knows this.

Have you started getting Chris through the application process for Section 8? The waiting list is pretty insane. I'm not sure how bad it is in VA, but it's like 10 years long up here.

that's the case now

We're in the endgame now.

The contents of the house are probably not worth anything close to the debts Barb has leveraged against it, and Christ doesn't need that house anyway.
Correct. The worst case isn't much better than the best case. When it's timely I'll have someone visit to see what the conditions are like.

I would rather Chris not have to pay rent. A mortgage would be less than rent, and it would eventually not be needed. The extra money could go to paying a helper to visit once a week to ensure he's not in squalor.

Chris paying rent on a one bedroom apartment would be better than him trying to maintain an empty, isolated hoard house. Also far more healthy as well. That house, along with Barb, has trapped Chris. When Barb is gone, Chris would be better off moving on.

I want to rate all of Chris’s future talk as optimistic because Chris is like a leaf blowing in the wind, you can’t predict where he’s going to end up.

Oh we'd definitely clean it out regardless. When she dies I am personally going to spelunk through it to find the gun Barb fired at Cole and FINISH THE FIGHT. :null::deagle:

Yeah but Chris doesn't need a bunch of empty rooms. He'd just blow the property tax money on trying to fill the empty rooms with Funko pops.

People who aren't Chris spend money on stupid shit all the time. Chris understands finances and the need to pay taxes, rent, bills, etc.

I agree that Chris understands he needs to pay for these things, but I also understand that in his mind he can beg on the internet to avoid preparing for said expenses. The less temptation, the better.

Make sure your shots are up to date.

I'd love a peek at the fabled autism papers. All the incidents that lil Chris did to get him kicked out of school and the cub scouts.

Considering that the family Chandler stopped routine home maintenance when Bob was alive, I really doubt that Chris can handle home ownership. He is more suited for apartment life where can call the landlord/super/manager if the drain is clogged or a pipe is leaking. They routinely clog the shower and keep drain cleaner around to deal with it. Not exactly Tim "Toolman" Taylor, are they? Home ownership is just added cost and stress that he should not deal with. Assuming Barb dies at home, Chris should just stay there until they boot him and then move into a nice apartment or some type of shared housing arrangement. If Barb is whisked away to long term care, same plan only before she dies.
