UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

FARAGE RESIGNING
You don't say.

Farage says he will resign to fight 'people versus establishment' byelection in Clacton
Farage says he is going to fight a byelection in Claction.

It will be a “people versus the establishment” byelection, he says.

I think he is doing this for two reason

1. The investigation was going to likely end in a 14 dy suspension and trigger by-election. By getting ahead of it, he is fighting from a place of strength rather than weakness, where he has more control over the narrative.

2. Reform has peaked, and is losing support. He is hoping for an Andy Burnham style win would boost his party up again and stop Restore in it's tracks.

Rupert Lowe/Restore Britain's reaction

He is obviously going to run a candidate there, he has a better chance of getting a win there than Makerfield.

I'm glad this is all happening now, if Burnham called a GE the Right would be fucked lol the idiot has no balls and is now passing on 2 easy extra years in power.
Just get this out of Restore/Reforms system now, have your blood dome tourney and get it over with.

BBC was hinting that the Tories could do well in Clacton, I do fear by 2029, we are going to end up with the same Labour vs Tory political environment again, do people never fucking learn? I hope Restore pick a strong candidate, It'll be a lot easier than Makerfield, Rebecca was nice but extremely weak and nervous and didn't have any chance. I only have hope in Restore now.

I am somewhat bored with Restore too. Lowe purposefully aimed to be for the natives but is clearly not. If you found Islam so barbaric, why did you let your son marry an "ex" muslim? The rape gang enquiry has done nothing at all, except get some nice little plugs from HECKING BASED Azmagold.

I cannot say what should happen because it would be viewed as a fedpost.
She looks indian to me.

I don't understand why he's resigning as MP but running for a new Clacton by-election? This is extremely risky, especially since Restore will most likely push for a candidate there.
Got this expenses/donations case against him so trying to run the election to try and secure the seat before the media goes full out on it - apparently the case is now suspended and investigation will resume if he gets elected.

British right just imploding over the past month it seems
So was the left; they are shoving Andy Burnham into power, to say nothing of the Greens and Your Party shit going on. The UK Right also suffers from the fact there hasn't been a UK right in decades so they have no idea what to do, and it's full of homo-fascists and grifters. I could type about how much I hate those socmedia spergs for hours, always fucking whining about muh vanguard mug vanguard. You're not the vanguard, you're a fag who makes reels.
I've seen an increased about of reporting on White Vanguard as well, and more of those 'Guardian' type groups are popping up outside of the grifter/auditor/online politics spaces. Liverpool Guardians (lads who patrol the town centre after dark to keep an eye on peoples safety) have been extremely active and growing in numbers with more women joining them it seems. Rochdale faced media accusations they were a vigilante group. Just goes to show how retarded the media is, it's not the middle aged people who show their faces like Crowborough Shield and the group in Manchester that are 'vigilantes'; its the lads in all black in Liverpool and Edinburgh.

Triggering a by-election now draws the sting of the investigation - if Farage had waited until the investigation was complete, and if it had found him guilty, he would likely have faced a by-election against the backdrop of that guilty verdict (suspension from Parliament -> recall petition -> by-election) . I think he would still win a by-election under those circumstances, but it would be trickier.

But right now, there is no judgement against him, which therefore allows Reform to frame the by-election in the way that they are trying to do (outsider vs. Establishment). And in my opinion it makes the prospect of a by-election after the investigation finishes much less likely. Farage may still be found guilty, he may be suspended from Parliament and there may be a recall petition, but under those circumstances the other parties would find it much more difficult to gin up enough interest/anger to get 8,000 people to sign that petition - the people of Clacton would already have had their say.

If I were the establishment I'd trigger a by-election immediately after the judgement, even if he had just won the by-election a week ago. Yeah it costs money but that's free, and it'd fuck over Farage. Besides "technically this is what the rules say and we follow the rules."

Also why the heck isn't Starmer declaring a general election right fucking now? Farage just fell down the stairs, politically, and it'd be the best possible time to kneecap the right.

Thoy looked at Nick 'spic faggot' Fuentes and decided to bring that shit here
British Nick Fuentes would have worked a few years ago, but times are changing too quickly. We aren't as well off as we used to be, standards of living are down, cost of living is up, police hate the natives, theres migrants raping everywhere. It's going to be harder for social media pundits to be puppeteered to pacify an enraged population; and eventually, sharing videos of the protests in France for that murdered 17 year old, information about missing girls, posting 'where are you British man?' in response to avoidable tragedies will not end in just merch sales and retweets. Those who larp as vanguards are going to accidentally create the vanguard, and they won't be in it.

I doubt the left would fair that well, Starmer is too busy in Turkey for the NATO summit, possibly his last big international outing, unless he becomes NATO secretary general which would be fucking hilarious and terrifying if that ever became a reality.

Haha keep taking those Ls Harry.

And what a royal prannock Farage is, not declaring that £5m. It's like he doesn't even want to win. He'd probably be quite happy losing this by election. He'd get to whinge that the nebulous "establishment" has it out for him and oh well I did my best etc etc, with no need to follow through and actually do something that would improve this country.

It's so frustrating, and I just don't support him any more.
