UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

How the fuck do I get this job??
He's a photographer, so he does corporate photos, weddings, portraits, and now he takes photos of pubs while drinking pints.
The Free Speech Union is getting involved as the police seem to have given personal information to Greens Councillor Rick Rowe and his boyfriend as well as intimidating him in public. Actual insanity. Get stabbed, no one shows up; try to keep pubs in business, rozzers are ON THE WAY

I can say that as someone in a leafy area, low crime. It is official: my area has now succumbed to boatniggers. So, as you have read previously, I have been saying I keep noticing new nogs around my leafy area.

Last night, knock at the door (20:30). Copper there says, "Please stay inside, sir." I ask, "Why?" He responds, "There has been a disturbance."

Hear screaming, I respond with, "Thanks, might want to deal with your disturbance, sounds like they are there."

10 minutes later, officers putting fat nig in cuffs in back of car. 2 other cars there. I get another knock shortly; same copper says this time, "I am saying to you, do not report this to the press, as you will be charged for disturbing the peace." I respond with, "I think the person did a better job at disturbing the peace."

I close the door and just think, Bruh.

I want to believe this is fake, I want to believe this is fake, I want to believe...this is fake.

I think everyone should just say they have tourettes syndrome, anyone remember this doc?

Is it just me or is nothing happening? I don't like it, it's like some eye of the hurricane bad feel sort of calmness.
"I am saying to you, do not report this to the press, as you will be charged for disturbing the peace."
This should've got plod a doorslamming, we all know we're under occupation but rubbing our faces in it like that is just rude.

One almost wonders if having a camera to record doorstep interactions could be a good thing.
How could a report possibly be a breach of the peace? That simply cannot be true (I believe you it happened, I’m saying they couldn’t charge you if you did .)

I would have replied with "Sorry already did, Can I have a name or number so I can forward it to them when they get here?"
Oh that’s a shame officer… may I just take you badge number? I’ll give them a call back and ask them to ask for you by name so you can sort it out with them. I reported in good faith and I’m sure you can sort it out directly with them

The only cleaner proxy than "wealth" is being a Jew (and they're rich).

Wealth is proof that the current system, which is absolute poison to the average native, benefits you.

You are, in some way you don't recognize or acknowledge, the problem.
Capitalism, the current system, benefits me, because I work for a living ? I studied hard, went to a grammar school ( seven years of 3 hours or more homework a night ) university and then worked consistently hard in my chosen field to get to a position of higher than average earnings and wealth accumulation through being prudent with what I did earn. I hasten to add, I've paid a fortune in tax along the way, so I've made a contribution to society. But yes, it's definitely the system and not my ability and work ethic that has favoured me. Or is it because I'm white and hetrosexual and all the supposed advantages that entails ? Unfortunately for people like you, I refuse to feel guilt for it. I won't apologise for having a clear vision of what I wanted to do in this life from a young age and working hard to achieve it, no matter how much envious bastards like you wish it.

The fact that you are clearly jealous about this and think I'm the problem, makes me think you're a lazy, bitter, cowardly nigger. It wouldn't matter what the system is, there will always be winners and losers, the hard truth is that it's easier for the losers to blame the system than take a look in the mirror. "Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that."

No one is fucking jealous of you nigger. Just for this post I hope you get bombarded with fucking sandniggers and niggers alike.

You've been wanting to say that for a while now. Tells me all I need to know about you.
It won't happen where I live. Our MP knows it's his job to represent his constituents. I can go a whole week without seeing one here.
I hope you enjoy your enrichment - may it happen to you and your family.

Another two-tier video has been circulating on twitter, showing a boy being assaulted by a group before getting slammed into a shutter by a policewoman, leaving the assailants to flee the scene. The victim, drunk and likely assuming he was still being mobbed as opposed to dealing with law enforcement, throws a punch before realising.

He is then roughly shoved into the police car, with the aggressive policeman giving the camera a guilty glance once he realised he was being recorded.

Birmingham has responded to the video, saying the only resulting arrest from the incident was the victim, arrested and charged with assault of a police officer. They go onto say that they have no concerns, and are even satisfied with the police conduct.

Ahhhhh. I hate to do it, but I gotta agree. Shit's fucky and expensive and unpleasant for sure; and a lot of older people have absolutely had a leg up...but like, I dunno man. I'm not that old, and I'm doing just fine. I still save in a high CoL area, and I can still afford a house. I did the economic shuffle where I went down souf to get a well paying job, saved, got experience and now I'm heading back up norf for a better paying one, with much cheaper houses I can just cumdump cash into and overpay each month. I hate the current system, because it absolutely does incentivise big businesses to bring in wog slave labour; but that's not the same as normal people just working jobs. I mean, case in point, did people know that building companies get hit with a tax that only exists, because the government assumes you're dodging taxes? That's some bolshevik shit right there.

I think anyone that's read my posts can agree I'm not exactly a libertarian (because I'm not retarded); but there's a difference between not wanting Amazon to own you as a gimp slave, and supporting the ability of people to actually do well in life off of their own backs.

EDIT: Everyone in the country is chronically underpaid, shit costs too much and we're overtaxed. That's not the fault of the middle class. That's the fault of the demonic level of mismanagement our government has subjected us to.

I think we should just enlist every small boat paki that comes onshore, "Oh, you want to stay here, then you need to serve at least 2-5 years in the army", because I don't trust them touching our ships or aircraft, or just use them as ammunition. Might be a good deterrent for people to stop coming here, probs not.
Nice idea, but I don't like the thought of armed Pakis.

I think "I'm saying this to you" was a personal threat, as in "I'm not saying this to you as a police officer, I'm saying this personally; I will get you arrested if you do this."
"I am saying to you, do not report this to the press, as you will be charged for disturbing the peace.
I'd suggest trying to get some sort of camera for your front door if something like that happens again, Why would he go and knock on your door to tell you anyway, do you have Restore signage out front or something?

Is it valuable to have a police officer as a friend in case you get in trouble, sort of like how having a lawyer friend can help a lot of legal proceedings were to come up?

Believe it or not, the first thing the Police will do if they see it is confiscate your ring cam and claim it "encroaches on GDPR." I would only record personally if I am being served or harassed; I find it really tacky. Now, recording I am for that, as it can be concealed.
Around 2019 I had this webcam setup by my bedroom window that'd just record for motion that nobody ever seemed to notice, reckon you could probably rig something like that up and have some microphone by the door or whatever without them knowing.
