UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

The first atrocity Bodybags has to deal with will melt him. Starmer's sociopathy enabled him to endure Southport, but Burnham will take the reaction he gets to heart.
I wonder what's more likely, it kicking off in London and headlines along the lines of "Burnham turns his back on London's problems while he rules from Manchester", or it kicking off somewhere up North and the headlines reading "Burnham looks inward to Manchester; turns his back on the rest of the North".

I bought one of those 18" chrome gym fans in like... 2018? There was an unusually hot summer back then. The rest haven't been particularly notable until this year.
I bought one of those 50 quid VonHaus vertical cylinder things. It comes out of the closet for about 2-3 weeks. It's the same with the little electric radiator I have in my office It comes out of the closet for 2-3 weeks and goes back in.
My local MP has released a Facebook post about how Reform winning would be a Very Very Bad Thing, and has now launched a campaign about women, for women. Or something.
They are still running on the old pre-2020 playbook that just won't work long-term. Once the political laggards move on / boomers die off, this will become totally ineffective.
Which I find very strange, because when she appeared on my doorstep (coincidentally the same day Eddie Izzard was photographed queuing in the Ladies Toilets at some event, and I was quite pissed off about it) I asked her "What is a woman?" and all she could say was "It depends".

I then asked her "Do you think a Woman can have a penis?" She answered again "Well, that depends".
The most insane discussion point over the last few years is whether a woman has a penis.
It should be a litmus test to any of these wankers who turn up on your doorstep when the election comes around.
Sounds to me that she is now shitting herself that the tide is turning against her political party AND men in womanface, and her party is struggling for support (it was very strange in her post that she didn't mention anything about Restore, which is actually getting more support in this area) so she is now backtracking on herself and suddenly knows what women are....unless she is counting blokes in dresses as women, too.
From what I've been told, they have a bunch of talking points that they repeat to you, and then they feed back how much pushback you give them to the party.

This is why the relationship between you and your MP is always going to be adversarial because they are either agreeing with you in an attempt to deceive you when they want to get elected or they are disagreeing with you when they agree with you because it is party policy.

I then asked her "Do you think a Woman can have a penis?" She answered again "Well, that depends".
This is also poor logic on her part. You asked "can". The negation for "can" is "cannot", i.e. "never." To answer "it depends" is by direct implication meaning "sometimes". So her actual answer is "yes."

Imagine a mostly Muslim community, they just decide to keep taking in every fucking Paki insight, I will try be optimistic, if it gets even worse then I hope this fuels more people to look at Restore's policies, people might actually wake up, press X to doubt though.
Just to note: they don't have to be and wont be confined to a given area. All that will be required in practice is a registered address. The people the "community" import might well be anywhere in the country.

This is why I actually didn't want Starmer to go. Because now he has nothing to lose and Burnham is, for a little while, untouchable.

The most insane and also the most destructive. These morons just thought "yeah whatever, I'll go along with trans talking points, it polls well with the youth vote, what harm could it do?"
It didn't occur to them that the effect on a normal person of watching a politician - someone we're expected to trust to literally run the country - saying "some women have penises" would be a complete, immediate, and irreparable collapse in trust.
I cannot believe how far I am from the person I was in 2019. I don't think I'm alone. This political era is over and the people in power now have no idea.

Exactly. I was going to say something to this effect in my original post. I had a relative say something almost exactly the same as what you said. They just look like a buffoon saying it.

The voter turnout was the lowest it was in 20+ years and only slightly higher than the 1918 election, which had low turnout for fairly obvious reasons. People aren't going to go out and vote if there is nobody to vote for.

Over in Ireland, an Islamic ''prayer hall'' has been set on fire (X). Allegedly, this is the same location that the Dublin stabber attended.

Im fascinated by the 'Number 10 North' idea, given that Westminster has been dumping migrants in the north for fucking decades, and now will be doing it to 'their own people'. Just a marvelous idea.

I see they're already trying to change his PR/narrative of "the worst prime minster with the worst approval rating" to "well....he wasn't so bad afterall" when Burnham inevitably fucks over the whole country worse than Starmer did.

Not sure if anyone is familiar with Connor but he does have some decent videos, albeit he does go on some autistic tangents but the second part of this video (skip to 19:34) is pretty good as he's kinda critiquing what Restore are doing wrong and could improve on and I think a lot could agree on it.

The Trans thing has been a huge success for TPTB! They got the whole of society fighting over something so stupid we couldn't possibly ignore it. They attacked the most basic fundamentals of society. And whilst everyone sane was either trying to stop it or trying to survive it without getting fired, they were able to pursue real change like further pushing mass immigration, surveillance, prosecuting foreign wars.

Can you imagine democracy without the culture wars? People just focusing on whether the government was doing a good job economically, whether new laws were actually a good idea, things like that?

The Trans movement was a huge success for TPTB. It created rifts between generations, families. It was a tremendously effective loyalty test as it was so absurd you could not pretend it was anything other than a straight-up "Will you believe what we tell you or what you know" test. O'Brien from 1984 holding up four fingers and insisting Winston Smith believe it is five.

It has caused divisions and damage for years, maybe decades to come.

If the English ever cotton on that this actually works, there's going to be trouble. But then I guess that's why they imprison women just for talking about the possibility.

The intelligence services probably have anyone that is likely to do anything like that already under surveillance.

Yes, and I can't stand him and the other pricks. This is the "MY <THING> IS UNDER ATTACK" video. This video is simply an e-begging vid in disguise.

Politics is a dirty game; if you have any political opinion that isn't milquetoast, someone will try to screw with you, your money, family, friends, possessions and dwelling.

How? There’s a lot of them and resources are seriously stretched. There’s a big difference between identifying a few thousand people by snooping online and actually stopping them doing stuff IRL.
If a couple of percentage of the general population are capable of doing this kind of thing, and a small percentage of them actually do it, and they don’t talk about it online and they don’t take their phones along then there is no possibility of stopping them all.
‘Known to intelligence’ is one thing. We will all be nicely tagged with the data point that we post here. Is someone following every single one of us to make sure we don’t nip out at night with ill intent? How about everyone who makes makes anti immigrant Fb posts or similar? That’s a lot of people.
The entire apparatus relies on a very wide net being cast and then targeted guesses because people talk online and within a listening ear. If something akin to the troubles started up again where a decent number of people were organised and the majority were supportive you’d see this kind of thing happen constantly. The idea that intelligence could stop it all is propaganda.

Which one was this 'Dublin Stabber'? There's so many incidents nowadays that I haven't the faintest idea which one this is referring to, even in Ireland. Do they have a name?
The illegal chimpanzee that tried to behead that poor half blind retard that helped him move into the social housing (which is meant for half blind retards and the elderly, but labour and the conservatives have been using to house illegal chimpanzees) which got the North Ireland fellas to start burning migrant nests down and de-phoning any Antifa / HopeNotHate / BBC (same diff) goons that tried to record them for the state.

The Parnell Square stabber, Riad Bouchaker, 52 'of no fixed abode' who stabbed 3 young girls in 2023 because his benefits were delayed.

That was Belfast
