UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Can any full time resident in Scotland Kiwis explain to me why your petrol and diesel is so, so much cheaper than in England.

Even on motorway, it was 20p cheaper per liter of diesel. Even in arse end of Caithness, the price was similar.

I'm not seeing this disparity on fuel-finder.uk. Are you sure you're comparing like for like? Or even comparing prices in Scotland today to England a couple of weeks ago? Prices have dropped a lot lately.

Goddamn, the politicians are already fighting, and Starmer's corpse still has not been cleared. I will actually agree for once with Julia Hartley Brewer from TalkTV that this feels like a cous. It just feels so inorganic and organised. Ministers jointly say "leave," and Starmer rolls on his back. Burnham rocks up to the gate, and the flag just changes. I think we will get a Punished Starmer arc where he will be like Cummings and Truss and just blurt the mechanisms of the blob.

@Overly Serious Ukraine is nothing but a WEF money pit, look at how many WEF mega corps own land through Zelensky; it's actually insane. There are cities in Ukraine that BlackRock just owns through Zelensky. The issue, as you said, is that for Burnham, he is going to install a bunch of ideologues with nothing. No resources, no money, and no manpower. For example, the only reason Burnham is siding with Mahmood's immigration policy is that Mahmood has said, "What do you think the feral creatures are going to do when the machine stops going brrrrrrrrrrr?" PLP is now forced into the position of prevention with absolutely nothing.

Digital ID - can't do you don't have the staff or resources to even build and monitor 1 data centre, let alone the bill it will do for households.

Welfare - literally cannot afford one more person.

Riots - There is barely any frontline staff left; they have to call in inexperienced staff from over 200 miles away now. Over 9,000 staff are leaving per annum, not as low as 2024 but very close. The army is also at its lowest in HISTORY. Guess what, if riots become more frequent, insurance goes up, impacting small and medium businesses, making it impossible.

So the problem is greater because it is like a fucked up game of Buckaroo. Ukraine is just something we cannot afford currently.

I can't find the clip right now because I don't have X on my phone, but he said something that effectively conflated ethno-nationalism with nazism and denounced them both at once, while being interviewed by a literal Jew.
No mere Jew but the most anti-white Jew "on the right." (He's not on the right any more than Rupert is "far right," but.) Anti-whiteness isn't his ideology but a visceral, psychotic thing. See pics of him on vacation in Rome, e.g.

So imagine his pleasure at accidentally leading Restore to PR ruin—some ruin, at least.

It doesn't help that the same people making up excuses for "Boomer" Lowe today were just a few months ago chiding us all for doubting that Matt Goodwin is a fine upstanding and trustworthy man we should all vote into power.

I'm a "doomer" (post-doomer, ackshually) so I've always believed that like every other Western "far right" party, Restore is only telling the truth when it says Thatcherite/Reaganite, tech/finance/hustle-bro shit—like threatening to take away your pension and bring you "pain"—and they're lying about remigration/etc.

It's good they revealed themselves now, isn't it? Before they bring in the Rupert wave?

Rupert Lowe said something unbelievably retarded in an interview the other day, and it's causing a bit of carry on within Restore. Reform supporters are definitely capitalising on this, but I can hardly blame them when it's a rare case of shit optics on Lowe's part.

Here is the clip with more context which was Lowe saying he doesn't know any party who audits their membership:

Very similar trajectory to Johnson - left Parliament to become a mayor whilst their party was in opposition, remained a popular mayor when their party re-entered government and started making difficult choices and mistakes
I just want to mention that was the first time that they had used electronic voting in the London Mayorial elections, it was a fucking circus with votes going onto spreadsheets, databases rolling back blocked transactions and losing votes, voting screens which showed you making a vote but which their vendors admit probably didn't actually send them off to the SQL Server database they all connected to. At one point observers were kept out of the room whilst the vendors talked to officials and I'm 90% certain the conversation was "yeah, these numbers might be wrong, we've no way to tell" / "Fuck's sake, nobody can know about this, just release them as is, Boris was probably going to win anyway".

Indra was the company that presided over all this and they got paid £4.5m for doing so.

Was Boris Johnson actually elected mayor of London? No fucker knows but the press weren't interested in calling out the numerous problems which is why you likely haven't heard about all this.

Oh yeah, chain of custody was broken too.

There are about 160,000 police officers in the UK. Which makes around 240 of them for every 100,000 people. And given how many police officers are saying "fuck this" over the last ten years, quite a lot of those 160,000 have five years on the job or less.

I keep thinking of that scene in The Warriors where Cyrus is pointing out how outnumbered the police are.

"Can you dig it?"

If I drive to Derby, I've seen filling stations from the same franchise that are 5-10p per litre cheaper than where I am (Cheshire).
It varies massively from town to town even when you keep the franchise / supermarket or whatever the same.

In Wales there are loads of random stations that are cheaper still, another 10p a litre over the cheapest Morrison's diesel.

Speaking of Morrison's, how are they able to undercut everyone else around them by so much? Is the company connected and getting a sweetheart deal somehow?

Their profit margin is the lowest of the supermarkets. Last time I checked, Morrison has a ~3.5% profit margin, whereas Tesco is something like ~4-4.5%.

The reason I checked this is because Mongoloids will go "Tesco made record profits" and say stuff like "They are being greedy." But if you actually look at their profit margins, it isn't that high.

Most of the super markets have low profit margins and rely on just shifting super high volumes of stuff to make their profits.

I have no idea whether the diesel is lower grade or not. I think that is probably nonsense, as all the stuff is B7, which is 7% biodiesel.

That being said, when I went to Wales last year on holiday in my Landie, it was a good 10p cheaper than in England, just everywhere. However, every petrol station had some variation of a dragon or the Welsh flag colours on it.

Same for me with Scotland. I haven't found any of this on any websites but I've seen it with my own two fucking eyeballs so websites be damned. I know what I saw. £1.69 odd for diesel on motorways in Scotland, even on the north fucking coast. £1.89 plus at normal service stations in England.

Oh yeah definitely - but there isn't a particular difference between Scotland and England that I can see.

£1.89 plus at normal service stations in England.

Diesel is currently in the low £1.60s in England that I've seen.

Yeah, I watched the longer version before it got clipped down for Xitter dunking, but I still stand by my original statement. I think that his choice of wording in the moment was pretty shit in all honesty. He should have slowed down and thought more about what he was saying.

I don't think that Lowe despises the modern British Ethno-Nationalist movement, I think that (because he's a boomer) he automatically associates the term with Nazism, and panicked in the moment to pull out the "We're not ethno-nationalist nazi's" card, which is goes very heavily against his usual approach. He cocked up his wording and it's biting him on the ass with Xitter ethnats.

Personally, I think that he should have just stopped with "No party audits their membership, there are extreme people in every party in the country, but(...)" then get into the point he wanted to make about leftists. Deflection would have been piss-easy here, but he didn't roll with it.

For what it's worth, I like Rupert a lot and I'm hoping that this cock-up makes him think twice going forward. Nobody is perfect 100% of the time, and only sycophants would say otherwise. I think he deserves some criticism for this.

And there was for me, having literally started my day in Scotland and ended it in England. You know, in front of me, not on a website.

And with my own eyes I saw diesel today for £1.63 at a petrol station in England.
Prices vary massively depending on market. Near me, diesel prices go from 152 all the way up to 180. That's just within a 2 mile radius. Anything near a motorway is always more expensive because of captive audiences. When I've visited scotland in the past, I've seen a 20p difference between prices from Stirling to Callander. So, you're both right, really.

For what it's worth, I like Rupert a lot and I'm hoping that this cock-up makes him think twice going forward.
Long-term, it's a storm in a teacup. He'll lose a few internet spergs. As long as he keeps hammering "millions must go" and doesn't start watering down his deportation plans, I reckon he'll weather the fallout from this just fine.

Really makes you think that Andy practically hop, skipped and jumped into a PM support from being mayor of Manchester all by winning the easiest possible seat he could even be presented with. People thought Rishi was helicoptered in but Burnham's giving even him a run for his money with this one.
I'd still argue that Rishi was even more egregious because of the nature of him actually losing the leadership contest within the party, where the members of the party originally voted for Liz Truss (the MPs wanted Sunak). And after Truss resigning, there was not a leadership contest with it being Sunak who came out on top.

That's fair. We don't need another one-man party. But yeah he should brush up on how to answer this kind of question in future. It's going to be asked more and more, if Restore gets more popular.

Ukraine-Russia to me is like Israel-Palestine. I just don't fucking care at all, I don't want MY country getting fucked over with global geopolitics and needing to help police the fucking world.

If Ukraine can't fend off Russia on their own then sucks for them, I don't give a shit about Russia that's seemingly behind literally everything in the entire fucking world but also so weak that Ukraine is perpetually "two weeks from storming Moscow". Pick one or the fucking other, and on the off chance that Russia decides to fucking storm the entire fucking EU then it's a good job we're an island about as far away from Russia as fucking Spain.

I don't fucking care. Every fucking year that the war continues Europe gets hammered more and more because we've basically all been in a weird suspended state because we can't fucking do anything without cheap Russian gas powering EU factories and allowing surplus energy to be sold cheaply throughout Europe.

In 20 years Putin will be long dead and we'll still be in the fucking consultation phase of another Nuclear plant.

He was pretty much already hinting to Nick Ferrari last week that he'd be walking away before the General Election, insisting he doesn't care about being Prime Minister and "someone better might come along" in the next couple of years. He handed over ownership back in February.
Nige wants to be the loud mouthed opposition, he doesn't actually want to do anything. It's why he never bothered turning up as an MEP, and why he rarely turns up as an MP. He didn't expect to win Brexit, he'd already been preparing his second wind grift of "the vote was so close, we need to do another referendum". Boris had a similar playbook, they were betting on it being a narrow loss.
Brexit was never supposed to happen. Farage (and Boris) was doing the same thing Ann Coulter, Lindsey Graham, or Bill Maher do. It was meant to waste the right's time in the UK on something impossible so the Uniparty could outmaneuver them while generating sound bytes to mock them forever. But then whoops they actually had the votes to pass it and they've had to figure out what to do ever since. The current plan is to ethnically cleanse the UK until the replacement British vote to rejoin the EU.

Speaking of a high trust society, was watching these two guys travel to Japan, constantly praising how everyone is polite, how clean the country is, how everything is just so much better than the UK. They're both Green party (paying) members. These retards will just never understand that mass immigration, especially from shit hole countries like the middle east and Africa is ONE of the main reasons why the UK is no longer a high trust society. Why are they like this, what needs to happen for them to finally "get it"?
They're demoralized. They literally can't get it. They are programmed with a conclusion and outside information cannot reach them.

Some of the top kikes in the world worked very hard to find a way to program the goyim into this religious-ideological thinking. You would literally need to deprogram them like a cult member and one of the first things they targeted in Academia were the shrinks to make that impossible. Your only hope is to get the other side to stop considering them misguided and realize they're actually evil and need to be suppressed and overcome, not reasoned with. They cannot be reasoned with. Sam Hyde was not wrong. They want you broke, dead, your kids raped and brainwashed, and they think it's funny.

I know someone posted this earlier. Just saw this in the Mail - Don't know if it shows anything different.

Police probe video showing officers attacking group of young girls with baton and Tasers as fight breaks out on Rotherham street

South Yorkshire Police said: 'The short clip on social media of the police response to an incident in Rotherham over the weekend appears nothing short of shocking.

3300.mp4

The man filming the action screams: 'He has got the baton. What are they doing?'

He then stood with his baton raised and forcefully shoved another girl away.

At this point, another officer was pushed by one of the group and appeared to respond aggressively by punching her and shoving her backwards, causing her to fall on the ground.

Two officers dressed in black then arrived and pointed Tasers towards the group, ordering people to 'get back'.

South Yorkshire Police said: 'The short clip on social media of the police response to an incident in Rotherham over the weekend appears nothing short of shocking.

'Our PSD are reviewing this and all available footage, including Body Worn Video, of the full response to the 999 call to understand what happened before, during, and after what is publicly available.

'Their assessment will inform our next steps. At South Yorkshire Police, we want our officers to be professional and their actions to be lawful, proportionate, and fair. '

Rotherham. Ironic really when you think about it. Perhaps they were objecting to having bottles shoved up their cracks by pakis?

LOL. At the end of the video they actually fucking arrested them as well. Sweet Jesus.
This is an example of a government that’s rapidly dying. It’s desperate so it’s attacking who it thinks is an easy target even as it makes itself look more weak and retarded. They can’t fight in NI here so they are looking at some easy win.

I remember my friend got banned from animal crossing (Nintendo?) after new horizons came out. The ability to create/download custom patterns/images was great. My friend made Epstein/Putin Island and got banned instantly.
