UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Última edición por un moderador:
Maybe it's just this uksploosh guy being overly chatty but the atmosphere seems more jovial than angry. Football chants now. It's more a street party than a riot.

If a riot does go down, what do the people have on hand that can be used as weapons?
Everything.
You'll find that a horrific amount of damage can be done with loose bricks. Unlike approved protests though this lot will not be getting a pallet or two dropped off.

When tomorrow the rags are running their outrage articles about this protest remember that after the slimy cunts in Manchester airport got arrested we saw full blown riots targeting a police site where plod took it like a whore that had just been paid because the rioters were not white. In the aftermath of that there's still been basically no arrests.

Polish news has also not claimed him
Correction, Polish Radio Channel 3 did claimed him today: first, at the 8 am news block: they labeled him as a "Polish" student, then, on the 4:30 pm news block they changed it to "a British citizen with Polish roots".

News sites are also going with the British with Polish roots narrative, like TVN24, part of Warner group:

It's the same as the signs being handpainted instead of a bunch of expensive, identical printed ones. If you travel a bit and see leftoid protests they all sound the same in every country, they are rehearsed. If I was more musically inclined I could write down the notes (wi-ha-ni-ni-na).
Leftists don't believe in anything. The only thing that these believe in is the belief that 'ring wing bad'. I will still to this day and to the day I die say that Ulster is occupied territory and should be freed. Not because it's the current thing or because it's popular. But because it's something I genuinely and whole heartedly believe in. Maybe I'm behind the times. Maybe I'm a fucking schizophrenic paddy who needs to shut up and go back to the potato fields. But I am consistent and consistently honest and consistently myself. I have beliefs, not reddit post titles. I've been saying this shit for years and will continue to. When was the last time you heard a liberal say free Tibet or Hong Kong?
Crowd just broke a police line and now they're chasing them down the street pelting them with shit. Give em hell, Big Baz.
We saw it with Saggart. We saw it in 2024. The police cannot hold a line. The second people like this want to shit will go down. We will see it in Southampton and we will see it in the next one and the one after until something actually kicks off.

More police turning up. Happy times for any robbers in the surrounding counties as all the cops will be in Southampton this evening!

If you can call bottles and bins being chucked peaceful, I'm going to call this as peaceful as it gets, really. If you compare the number of protestors vs. the number of police and the things protestors could do if they were actually intent on violence rather than just making a show, is endless. For one, they could just press forward and overwhelm the police quite easily. For two, if they were actually intent on violence they would mask up Black Bloc style like the Antifa types do. The crowd are just ordinary people of every type. Majority men but plenty of women, teenagers and old hands.

Stream just said told another eight vans have shown up and some shields appeared. Probably a push from the police shortly.

The dad's name is Mark, not Marek, and there's no mention of him being an immigrant, which i feel the media would have bought up. Henry Nowak has been quickly accepted as 'British', so 3rd or 4th gen, or earlier. 2nd gen Poles from the 90s wave also don't go to a good uni to study accounting, they are in the plumbing business. But I'm from Birmingham and all we have for Polish representation is copper stealing Michal's and Alicja's who crank out children like they're anticipating being genocided again. Polish news has also not claimed him, he is just listed as a 18 year old student murdered by a Sikh.
Regardless, he was a white boy murdered for being white. All Euros face the brown hoard, we need to kick them out so we can get back to bashing each other the good ol fashioned way
Polish media is notoriously slow to report on anything and usually just parrots whatever foreign media say but badly translated.
Regarding which generation he was, it's not really relevant but there was also a minor migration wave to England following end of WW2 as many didn't want to live under soviet gov. Regardless, it would not been super unusual for someone to change their first name to the localized variant of where they live.
