A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I don't even know if I agree with the message or not. I simply do not know enough about these people. All I know is that sploshing is the word for people who have a nikelodeon slime fetish. And look. Maybe having a good old wank in a bucket of slime might help you mentally but I don't think that shit's fixing the country.

That being said, how Polish is he? The dad doesn't have the accent, did he grow up here? Are Josef and Nikodem really going to show up with their tools?
I have zero hesitation in saying yes, Paweł, Maciej, Piotr and all the boys would be there in a heartbeat, ready to do some damage. The family name is Nowak. They can't have left Poland more than a generation or two ago. Every single UK Pole I've ever known was Polish first, and they were raising their kids that way too. Immigrants ghettoise whether they mean to or not, so I'm guessing the Nowaks were well known by other local Polish families.
I think they are probably feeling extremely heated about this whole thing, and I actually wonder if it's a bad sign that we haven't had a statement from some self-appointed Polish-British community leader calling for "calm" (aka apathy and acceptance of their fate).

There are lots of skills that Poles have that are applicable to murder. Working in a farm field with a scythe? Easily applicable to a neck. Stealing copper? Guess what those big shears can also be used on.
Good at handling bricks: applicable to skulls. Good at mixing cement: applicable to shallow graves.

Fucking hell I can't believe I'm actually feeling sympathetic towards UK Poles LMAO. I knew so many who were gaming the UK benefits system to the absolute limit while sending enough cash back home to have bought several rental properties. Absolute pisstaking cunts, but if they take on the Sikhs, maybe I'll be able to let it go.

I don't know if anyone else is still watching the livestream. Everyone is just walking the streets now, not sure where they're aiming to get to. It's eerie how quiet they all are. The odd person keeps shouting a slogan but no one chants back. Can't be arsed to shout meaningless slogans any more? Quiet before the storm?
It should be eerie. This is not a performative protest solely for attention, people are rightly outraged and this is a make it or break it moment where if it’s handled badly the people will snap. I think the only thing holding the people back is that they can’t decide to be more mad at the police or the pakis, and whoever confronts them first will decide that.

My grandfather is Polish and I probably have distant relatives there in the UK. I think if I was there I would be seeing this as The Moment and be making lists and plans and building weapons out of things that hadn’t been banned yet just in case The Moment actually happens.

I've not tried doing a deep dive on Polish language media. Odds are if he was 19 (so born in 2007 ish) he'll be second generation Polish and his parents will be Poles. Think about when the wall came down, Poles only really started moving here in the 90s, it's unlikely he's third gen unless his parents were very young when they had him
The dad's name is Mark, not Marek, and there's no mention of him being an immigrant, which i feel the media would have bought up. Henry Nowak has been quickly accepted as 'British', so 3rd or 4th gen, or earlier. 2nd gen Poles from the 90s wave also don't go to a good uni to study accounting, they are in the plumbing business. But I'm from Birmingham and all we have for Polish representation is copper stealing Michal's and Alicja's who crank out children like they're anticipating being genocided again. Polish news has also not claimed him, he is just listed as a 18 year old student murdered by a Sikh.
Regardless, he was a white boy murdered for being white. All Euros face the brown hoard, we need to kick them out so we can get back to bashing each other the good ol fashioned way

I heard him say earlier they're marching to the home of the killer's family. They're clearly not going to be there, but it sends a message. Hopefully things get spicey.
Dumb choice if so and reminiscent of the vandalising of the mosque in Southport. It's easy ammo for the media and politicians.

Makes me think there's likely agitators in there.

Yeah, I don't think people are aware of how staged most leftoid protests are.
It's the same as the signs being handpainted instead of a bunch of expensive, identical printed ones. If you travel a bit and see leftoid protests they all sound the same in every country, they are rehearsed. If I was more musically inclined I could write down the notes (wi-ha-ni-ni-na).

Possibly Henry was 3rd or 4th. But maybe Marek goes by Mark to fit in. It's not impossible that his family moved here after the war, but I think it's far more likely they came after the wall came down (or particularly after Poland joined the EU in 2004) and his family were good at adopting an English accent to integrate. Met plenty like that.

An interesting bellwether is the UKPolitics subreddit. They're not jannying posts of people absolutely enranged at this shitshow.

"we've got missiles being thrown, one of them in the form of an office chair"

kek

Edit: for archive purposes, no one has thrown a chair this was said in response to a chair falling out of a police van into the road

They actually should do this because it does send a clear message: you're here on sufferance, we're at boiling point, and if you carry on with your shit you'll get fucking lynched.
It's also great optics, because the coppers can't show up and start cracking people's heads for protesting outside the home of the family of murderers without sending an explicit message that they will fiercly defend the property of brown murderers, as well as mocking their White victims as they bleed out.

I hope every single brown in the UK is watching this and knows deep down, that the tide is starting to turn. Time to go home, cunts.

The Southampton Courts of Justice are not far at all from Belmont road
Edit: its the Constabulary. Still not that far.

On an unrelated note, has anyone considered how cool a second English civil war tabletop game would be where it's full on medieval combat but with cops in riot gear and protesters with pikes ect. Full on melee combat in the modern age. Skirmishers fighting in side streets and alleys in an attempt to out flank the other side.

Interesting! My experience of UK Poles is in a different part of the country and I knew even first generation immigrants who were studying for degrees like teaching, accounting and business studies in UK universities while working part time in restaurants - this was probably starting in 2015ish I think. I was in a typical student town though, with a very high percentage of foreign students, so that probably explains it.
