UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

rather than let people legitimately point out that the perpetrators were overwhelmingly Muslim and Pakistani.
I was wondering about this, who else has actually worked in a job with 2nd-gen/3rd-gen Pakistani men? My current job had a couple. The first one on a night shift, he literally did nothing for 8 hours. Just hid in a staff room in a quiet part of one of the buildings and was on one of the PC's all night while everyone else was busy. Eventually quit or got the sack, I can't remember. I know a supervisor was trying everything he could to get rid of him because the Unions are so strong, you need a really good reason to fire someone. The second lasted a few months before getting the sack, because he kept sneaking off to the nearest mosque for a few hours during work time. Also, he was caught stealing.

Can you really get arrested for posting/lurking on KF or is it a hoax?
The British police won't waste resources on arresting random kf users unless you make an explicit threat or make a post that is worthy of getting reported (which admittedly casts a very wide net but you would need someone to care enough about what you said to report it to the police) so don't make any actionable threats and always use a vpn and you'll probably be fine.

so even if someone does report you it's doubtful they'll even make the effort to come to your house anymore. You can read the law on what they deem to be "hate crime" incidents, its all public and easily available.

"Non-crime hate incidents" is such a double-plus-ungood phrase.

The UK police go after whoever they fancy. You can find hundreds of "Send the black bastards home" posts by old women on facebook and they're not touched. While someone posts a meme and it's 2 years in prison. It's total anarchy in who they go after and you shouldn't assume you're immune. Nor should you assume you're innocent because the laws around offending people are intentionally loose. Public disorder or grossly offensive can be as simple as "That's a bloke in a dress".

We need to ban inquiries. Nothing ever gets done because it's always an inquiry on an inquiry from a previous inquiry. Just ban them and the country becomes as afficient as Germany.

Lads, lads. Have you stopped to consider that Nugbu can kick a football really well?
I despise all but one thing about the footy, and that its people into the pubs. Albeit, if Stella is being sold...

Everything else about football is a fucking disgrace and is the perfect epitome of the Thatcherite/Blairite love child that Britain is now living through. Especially with the destruction of what was a working class event into a spectacle to make big bank whilst gaslighting the population into going "they're Brits too!!!" - as if the merit of one's character doesn't fucking matter unless they score some goals.

There is no act called "The Online Communications act" the Malicious Communications Act (1988) does specifically criminalise sending messages that are "Indecent or grossly offensive" but that was superseded by the online safety act (2023) you can literally go and read it here, It focuses on a few key "offences"
Okay so, minor correction as you're both technically right.

This all comes from the 2003 communications act section 127 here. The online safety act made some amendments which is the stuff bracketed as F1.

This being the original stuff.

EDIT:

That stuff bracketed was repealed, but the rest remains:

So guys, when do things get better? I was thinking last night that there's things I miss about the UK, and, would like to return to that UK but then I look at salaries, cost of living, and the realisation that the UK I know is long gone and I get a bit sad.

No lol it was Blank Street, very trendy tik-toky brooklyn cafe chain with extremely cliquey staff.
The Bham Tim Hortons has a 1 star rating and is all jeets however. There's mice crawling all over the shop. The landlord seized the weird Indian-Mexican restaurant next to it somehow. All the fuckin indian run stores are beyond dodgy.

'Britain First' (political party? I've no idea) will be hosting a Remigration rally in Birmingham June 20th (X) Official website (X) I will not be attending to document as if this is approved to go ahead I will be extremely concerned about safety in town (especially after what happened during the Southport protests here) but I will keep an eye out for documentary purposes, especially given how Bham police were during the Tel Aviv match. The Iranian monarchists still protest/celebrate/dance outside town hall every Sunday.

Monitor routes. During Southport protests thy were diverted by police towards and to create violent hotspots.

The one good thing about the British (and other anglosphere) legal systems is that it is based on common law meaning the law is heavily reliant on precedent as opposed to near solely based on statute. Here's a map with legal systems based on common law in red.

1780218876635.png

This creates a very strong legal tradition which is hard to repeal with acts. There is no specific "murder act" which outlines what murder is, what is defined as murder or manslaughter is based on centuries of legal decisions. This is why the British system of government has gradually reformed and remained relatively unchanged even after a bloody civil war (and my personal theory for why anglosphere countries are very unlikely to have revolutions or uprisings). With this act what is deemed as "grossly offensive" is largely up to a case by case basis which can be really good or horrifically dogshit due to activist judges. That has been used and abused by activists and people who just don't like hearing naughty words but to my knowledge a lot of the police coming to people's doors don't end in any form of conviction just a warning. This is why the situation in Britain at the moment is (rightly) mocked online, I'm sure you've seen some version of this floating around online

1780219576578.png
Arrests don't mean convictions, just someone is taken into police custody, but even then it's still insane that a supposed "liberal democracy" does this to so many people over online posts. This is the British soft power now, it used to be red phone boxes, the queen and James bond now it's arrests over facebook posts, rubber dinghy rapids islam and deliveroo drivers. I think that's a major reason why Mahmood said they won't be investigating "non-hate crime incidents" anymore, this is horrible PR and has absolutely destroyed the British reputation abroad.

The thing to bear in mind that the law is irrelevant to spin. When Henry Nowak died, the police confiscated his and his father's phones so they could check for proof of racism. So it's something to bear in mind, if you or a loved one ever gets attacked or killed by someone in a protected class, they could take your devices, find that you post here and boom, that's the story now. Even something as milquetoast as having a twitter account where you liked a JK Rowling tweet once could be enough. You're no longer an innocent victim, you're a bigot who got what they deserved.

And on that, can you actually imagine being Henry Nowak's father and the police turn up at your door to tell you your son has been killed - and also we're taking your phone to check for racisms. The fucking evilness of it. Even just the taking away the man's main means of communication with other loved ones he can turn to for support, and what is almost certainly the main bank of photos of the son he's just lost.

How much are those who sit on these inquiry panels paid for doing so?

Do they bounce from sitting on one enquiry to the next?

Where do I apply?
The way you do it is to sit on the inquiry for 6-12 months then quit for some reason. Let someone else take over who does the same thing. You still got full pay but none of the responsibility. If it says something bad you're not to blame, if it never comes out you're not to blame. It's the same tactic all politicians use.
Sending etc photograph or film of genitals (cyber flashing? Is that common I don't know why they would specifically criminalise that)
Feminists getting upset weirdos send dick pics. Instead of saying "looks tiny" and blocking them they made it illegal. Which is stupid as it's not going to stop it happening and there's plenty of foreigners doing it.
So guys, when do things get better? I was thinking last night that there's things I miss about the UK, and, would like to return to that UK but then I look at salaries, cost of living, and the realisation that the UK I know is long gone and I get a bit sad.
Fuck off. If you can't deal with the hard times you don't deserve the reward of the good times. If the country gets fixed people who fled and want to return should be treated the same way the foreigners are. You go back to where you came from and stay there.

Police often funnel right wingers into left wing choke points. They intentionally get them assaulted by the opposite side and then do nothing to protect them. It's been a common tactic across the Western world any time there's two protests. You're bad people so it's okay to attack you. Those Turkeys deserve to buy up your country and if you oppose it.. well you're just bad and deserve to be attacked.

Intentional. Then your support officer is your only support and you are more likely to go along with them.

It's never just an accident, it's all planned out. Never assume it wasn't intentional ever.

And on top of that, the fact that half the time you get your phone back from the cops (here in the US at least) there's a good chance your phone ends up fucked or corrupted because of the hard scans they run on it, so you risk losing all those aforementioned photos of your son.

I'm not going to go into a lot of depth about all of this as I have been running on fumes whilst doing some other stuff and I'm exhausted from editing a lot of text. So, this is going to be a messy response, I may have repeated words, the structure will be manic.

But a lot of the stuff that is going on right now is derived from trying to maintain social incohesion and stability within the population. It's why the government has been ever so desperate to cover up the grooming gang epidemics as there was a strong desire to bring in more low paid workers to make more money. A lot has been said about how "oh europe brought them allllll in to rebuild their countries after World War 2." (we never did recover so there's little point there). This is a common pro-migration myth, however the point remains is that social conditioning has been specifically focused on trying to engineer a new caste of people for menial tasks and so you need people who will obey you and do jack shit for cheap. And you can't let people dislike them.

So, you put on shows of integration, heighten up their value. First, you transfer emotions from one positive to something else. Say, the NHS; something that has been long beaten into people as a good thing, has now been made into something to make the skilled worker look good. This means less prejudice, less visceral. You get your new caste in, and they have a positive outlooks. You cover up anything bad said. You make Alf Garnett the villain, a constant mockery. Following on from this, you cover up anything bad that is said, and don't allow people to identify social sorting on mass. This is not to say it doesn't happen, people have continued to sort themselves into similar groups. Just look at white flight.

But no matter what, don't mention the grooming gangs. The image of gangs terrify people, if they see another Paki then they'll wonder "are they in the gangs?". And when there is a state of fear, well as we all know from Southport.

There is also economic fear as to why you'd want people who'd work for peanuts and that's because high paying jobs and low paying jobs are now converging to total earnings, whilst purchasing power has not increased with inflation. This has been going on for a while, and is a common theme in some of the stuff published in work by the WEF (you know, the big bads). University doesn't actually add much earnings, at all, and that's presuming you end up getting a good degree which isn't guaranteed nowadays. There were plenty of personal reasons as to why I didn't want to do well. I'd rather get a bad believable grade then be accused of using AI in the future, which is going to happen (despite us being recommended to use AI in parts, and that was a high end Russel Group university).

Foreign investments and all are also something that all governments have to care for. Why? Pensions and investments are directly tied to their economies which turns everything into a house of cards. We haven't learned from the long depression of the 1800s but hey ho, we have quantitative easing and the economy will always find a new dynamic equilibrium.

Which basically means we have on one hand, a need to import people to make sure line goes up. An economy that is functioning on a ponzi scheme with investors at the top - and it is in everyone's best interests for it to remain. Got an ICER? They're tied to stocks. Plenty of countries are involved in this set up, Norway is famous for their sovereign wealth fund. Chinese companies love to buy up foreign stocks + interests, American 401ks? They're stuff for the stock market to play around. Want your pension mr boomer, you need immigrants.

And then in the developing world, they also want you to take immigrants. About 20-30% of their economy is from remittances. - One could argue that this is even worse for our economy as it means that we're actively losing money to India and seeing no returns (whilst the central bank has to produce more liquidity to help with the balance of payments).

And so we can get an unholy dependence of where we need more immigrants to keep wages down and we need to make sure that the people have a positive outlook on them. We also need to make sure the economy can stay afloat. Which, with more social services coming under strain is yeah.

Fuck off. If you can't deal with the hard times you don't deserve the reward of the good times. If the country gets fixed people who fled and want to return should be treated the same way the foreigners are. You go back to where you came from and stay there.
Supremely based.
It does mean my all the electronic communication devices I use are seized and I can’t work.
It's a variation of "the process is the punishment".

Thanks largely to the lawrence inquiry, we've ended up with a complete inversion of the Peelian principle "the police and the public and the public are the police", which once meant that the police were not superior than the public they served (established in opposition to the prior system of politically connected city guards who held themselves above the law). Now, the police take this to mean that, because the police are the public, and because the police must abide by the politically correct mandates that were established after lawrence, that the public must also be required to abide by those same mandates, and so the police must become superior to the public in order to enforce compliance. We're right back to the situation Peel objected to in the first place, with politically connected paramilitary forces menacing the commoners, acting outside the law, and taking their stuff to punish them for having the wrong ideas.;

That and she was Salmonds second on command. He quit and threw his toys out the pram after the No vote in 2014 (and it was glorious, what a time to be living in Scotland, it was brilliant) and she stepped in.
They're all bent. The only reason she isn't serving time for a crime she did commit is because she hasn't been done for it yet. If they're Scottish they're running a scam on the English the same way the brown hoards are. Scottish plans that never happen, after being fully funded are so common you could batter them and put them on a chip shop menu.
