UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679 (https://archive.ph/5Ba6o)

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

We all the want the country saved. My original post and point was that Starmer is following a playbook as read to him by powers above levels in Westminster.
IF Farage gets into power, he will have orders to follow like Starmer before him and Sunak before him.
The rule book gets ripped up on Day One and Soros and co. will be on their way to a different 'Gated Community' than they're used to.

Anyone have any idea on the numbers in London? I'm seeing massive numbers being reported, in the millions. Any idea if it's accurate?
Met claiming 110.000
I think they will down play it for the same reason they bus in hope not hate, they want you to feel isolated and outnumbered in your beliefs. I dont think its millions though, no chance.
Probably closer to 250k - 500k which is a very strong showing.

I love how the BBC are trying to give the "counter protest" equal prominence in their headlines and articles, when by their own numbers the main gathering is over 100,000 and the bash the fash/refugees welcome lot are only about 500 sad sacks having around Russell Square, far from the action.

Just look at the footage, it's way more than 100k. It reminds me of Stop The War. And this is just the people that could be fucked to turn up, doesn't include the millions of more supporters that couldn't or didn't want to turn up.

Did they ever agree an accepted number on that? I remember estimates being anywhere from 600,000 to 1.5 million.
I think a million is generally accepted for that one.

This is how today's protest looked before lunch btw

"Tens of thousands". They literally want you believing this is like the Lionesses' victory parade.

It's much easier for the left to organize counterprotests in the city. London is a very far-left city. All these people have to do is go a few streets down in addtion to having dedicated groups to help with funding and transport. While if people like me wanted to show up, i'd have to spend a few hours on the train and pay for my own ticket.

Getting a bit spicy at the divide between the Tommy tards and the counter protestors. Seeing a few missiles thrown.
How big are their numbers? I know antifa's shown up like they do. So they might try and instigate some violence. Edit: I've seen some twitter videos. It looks like it's around 100 or so for antifa. The biggest counter-protesters are your typical midleclass shitlib urbanite women. I'll check some left-wing sources later and see what their saying.

This Robinson event is a complete embarrassment. The speakers are all absolutely awful. The entire event makes everyone involved look incoherent and stupid. What even is the point of this? Is there an expected outcome or result?
It's milling about under the assumption that a toothless show of hands matters in terms of politics. People genuinely think that if you show the government that they, their actions, and their ideology are hated, that the government will go ahead and leave. They won't. But it is nice to see so many people willing to go out and march around to demonstrate that they are pissed off.

The Telegraph reports that Burnham is on manoeuvres.
When has he not been? He's so good at nibbling at a leader's shins that I can't imagine him doing anything but that.

I'm convinced Robinson is trying to start a riot.

Xitter is full of retards repeating his "there's 3 million people here AT LEAST!" line. Not only can they not count, but they don't realise how many people that actually is. There's a lot people there, but not 3 mil.

Why repeat that line? 3 million is just demonstrably untrue.

EDIT: Obama's inaguration had 1.6 - 1.8 million there.
