A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

What retards like Owen Jones miss is that Sikhs collectively DO have to apologise for the actions of individual Sikhs because they have a collectivist mindset. They identify themselves first and foremost as members of the Sikh community; they have extremely strong in-group preferences; and they think and act in terms of what's best for Sikhs as a group. They literally are a monolith. Look at the statement that the murderers released: the only direct apology in it was to to their fellow Sikhs for causing trouble for them.

Whites collectively don't have to apologise for the actions of individual Whites because we see ourselves as individuals, and we think and act accordingly.

Until the 90s, police outside of London were generally ok. Forces were tiny and were members of their local community, so everyone knew where they lived, meaning they couldn't get up to more than the most petty sort of corruption before getting a brick through the window. Did the rounds the other week. Clearly still being circulated which is good. The man speaks very well. Restore are pulling out all the stops for Makerfield and I've changed my position on it. I thought it was too soon and too great a risk to contest it, but even if Restore don't win they're getting a lot of attention from this. Not in the MSM of course, but then the MSM become less MS with every year.

Honestly, I hope they do very well. Two weeks from now we'll know. As well as whether Andy Burnham will be able to challenge Kier or not. As for mass deporting Muslims, five years ago I'd call you a bigot, now, I'd call it unpractical. We need to disincentivise them staying here, if it means reducing benefits for 'single mothers' (ie. one of a Muslim man's multiple wives) , if it means banning all halal slaughtered meat, domestic or imported. If it means no 'gang colours', eg. the headscarf.

I live in a white area and our post office has always been staffed by indians, though up until about 8 years ago, the indians we had were fine for the most part, they were the rare high IQ jeet husband and wife (I think they might've been Sri Lankan?) that could compete with the average white person. The community actually liked them and there were no real issues or complaints.
True Jeets took over and now rather than act as a post office selling post office things, they sell literally everything, it's a tiny shop so the interior is 4 extremely tightly packed shelving units that reach to the ceiling, even navigating the shop is a fucking nightmare because there is barely enough space for one person to walk through an "aisle".
Then the grocery store close-by is also invaded by jeet and you need to be careful not to buy expired goods from them.

Pretty much identical to my experience. I used to live in an almost exclusively white and upmarket village and for as long as I can remember (30+ years) both the local post office and the one in the next village were run by subcontinentals, and like you the first lot were integrated quite well and actually ran it as a Post Office first and foremost but at some point they sold up and the second set were pure jeet. Like yours, they also turned it into a general store despite it being the size of a Japanese hotel room.

Ironically enough, I moved to a (still largely white) city last year and the nearest Post Office is bolted on the side of a good size Co-Op, and the few times I have been in both the shop and the PO have been manned by whites (excluding one black on the shop till). No jeets in sight. Maybe I got lucky.
