TL;DR: As it has been explained to me, the reason Anti-Malaria/Anti-Parasite medicines have a slight positive correlation to COVID survival is that it puts your body into "Oh fuck shits bad yo" mode faster by getting your immune system primed and encouraging your cells to suicide before bursting with virii.
