Wu would never admit it but GamerGate was the best fucking thing to ever happen to him. He's still a nobody, but he'd REALLY be a nobody if he'd never been on tv going "I DoN'T fEeL sAfe!". Would the Washington Post be writing about him otherwise? Fuck no. Does anyone know if he had a bluecheck on Twitter before all that? Also, wasn't he somehow busted sending himself threats?

The blue checkmark thing didn't even exist back then. Wu didn't even use twitter all that much back in the day, she was a big fish in the tiny, tiny pond of app.net before that closed. It's true that nobody knew who the hell Wu was until gamergate. It really was the best thing that has ever happened to her, which is why she's still clinging on to it 7 years later when all the other dramatis personae have moved on.

the OBSERVATION of the contradiction would be discredited through genetic fallacy ("he noticed it, so he's a misogynist : since misogyny is bad...block and don't read it") so that the contradiction is never questioned.
