You miss the main point of John's stupidity -- no catapult is needed. The moon is like a gigantic B-52 flying around the earth. You can simply drop things from the moon and they will fall onto the earth like multi-megaton bombs. It's science.

Truly, a man of the people (that's why he has three porches, an Audi and a motorcycle and only two dresses to his name).

John may as well round it all out and claim to be batman too. It's about as honest a statement as all the other shit.

Are we agreed that our only hope at John's "credentials" getting genuinely explored is for him to achieve some political success? I mean, he is already writing in the NY Times, which as much as it makes me retch is probably about right. How close would he have to get to Lynch, votes or otherwise, for Lynch's campaign to do what NO ONE else has done and actually vet some of John's tall tales? I mean it's soooo easy to do, but nobody tries. He says he just founded Giant Space Troon, putting it in the present tense to hide that he's been doing less than nothing since GooberGrape, and they print it. Whole Cloth. If I had any faith left in national media, Johns interactions would have killed it.

It's my assumption that the Lynch people are perfectly aware of Flu, and have probably already assembled all the information they need to utterly destroy him if he becomes a threat (which he won't). Acknowledging Flu in any way gives him the legitimacy he so desperately craves, and will inevitably draw more attention to him and his loony campaign. While that attention wouldn't help Flu in any way, it would raise his profile a degree which is something the Democratic higher ups DO NOT want leading up to the 2020 elections, they have enough crazies as it is driving moderates away, they certainly don't want another one, and they certainly don't want a giant, tottering ghoul of a troon contesting a safe seat in the house.

I would watch that like it was my fucking job. Can you imagine watching Fox utterly shred Flu on a day to day basis? It would be a riot.
 
Unfortunately, John is just clever enough to know that he doesn't want Fox to make him the face of the Democratic party too.

Lynch is running a total incumbents campaign, ignoring any challengers (since it would elevate them to mention them) and just showing up around the district to remind everyone he exists.

I actually think Lynch's campaign is probably less afraid of Wu actually beating him than they are Wu exposing weaknesses that someone else comes along and actually is half-competent would exploit. Like that other guy who was briefly in the race, he had his own money and was going to the left of Lynch too. That gives the media a chance to go "look, TWO (or more) candidates are attacking him" whereas with just Wu they aren't touching that aside from the few curiosity stories Wu got mostly last time and randomly this time. Especially since Wu won't talk about anything but impeachment and GamerGate.

I think if Brianna Wu did ever start to poll well, and you know actually appear in the district to campaign, Lynch's TEAM would likely first help the media to look at Wu's whole business that she claims to exist but doesn't. He wouldn't need to go scorched earth on her with John Flynt's history unless she was actually leading him, especially as that is somewhat touchy for a Democratic candidate. (All those unions and stuff that support Lynch, THEY would be told for sure but not "directly" by the campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them already do know at least from a "look at this wtf" standpoint even as they keep quiet.) Having her Twitter/impeachment focused campaign derailed by all the local media wanting to dig into her fake business and ask questions about it could be enough to drive Wu unofficially from the race. Not that anyone in the district would notice as she'd probably still remain on the ballot which is the only time they will interact with the Brianna Wu 2020 campaign anyway.

There was some mention (and maybe Warren confirmed?) about people initially confusing her for the progressive and very popular Boston City Council member Michelle Wu, that's going to drop away, especially as the lady Wu starts to seek higher office, she's been rumored for the Markey Senate seat, Mayor, etc. That'll eliminate any confusion factor as the lady Wu will get actual media coverage and nobody will think she's running for this random Congressional seat.

Pretty sure Warren, and maybe @Kroster confirmed it, I forget which. In any case, they were pretty sure that a good portion of the votes Flu got were people confused about Michelle Wu/Brianna Wu.

Somewhere there has to be a picture of John Flynt in blackface back in Mississippi, if anyone cared enough to let him hang out with him and felt like taking pictures at a party. There's surprisingly few things pointing to him having friends as in a group of friends. Even the college board didn't mention anyone other than a fat chick that hung around him. He's still only hanging out with Frank playing his card games and some meet-and-great type of things when he's hosting fundraisers in California, even his Star Wars thing should have attracted some friends but there was just a couple of strangers, right?

"Grab 'em by the pussy" is one of the dumbest attacks the Clinton campaign made, specifically because it reminded people (how many? enough, that's how many) that Hillary's husband was a walking hillbilly hardon.
