It is very, very strange that the Brianna Wu candidacy/campaign looks so fucking dumb, from top to bottom, that we're forced to think that there's intent and thought when it's most likely just spectacular incompetence. We know Wu has some brain problems on top of being a colossal moron, we know he's lazy, a liar and failure at absolutely everything. But the scampaign is like a free energy device that creates a steady stream of incompetence from nothing, it's so unnatural that it seems more plausible that Wu's (in)actions are guided by some kind of thinking and planning.

The most humiliating parts of this scampaign were their ads. The victim of that humiliation is Frank. He was the one who ranted like a complete spastic in the Patriots car park, he was the one who starred in the ridiculous Trumpzilla abortion, he was the one who raved to camera about just what an awesome woman Brianna is.

While the campaign has been a joke from start to finish I cannot really think of humiliating things that Brianna has been put through.

Why not just do it like in the movies where the Strong Female Secret Agent takes the hair bobbin out and uses that?

How is this even economically feasible? Every time I've voted its been in a church/school gymnasium with a pen and paper. Almost all the workers are 65+ year old women. Not even sure if they get paid or if it is all volunteer work. Electronic voting machines are stupid in general and I can prove it.

Spoiler: Back-of-the-Envelope Calculation

Lets say that a polling station (suburban/rural area) responsible for 5,000-10,000 people and has 5 people working at 15$/hr at for 24 hours (being open for voting then counting the ballets). Operations cost = *15$/hr*24hr = 1800$ or an election day (city, county, state, federal).
Now lets go with the new system of voting machines. Let's say after federal rebates a machine costs $5,000 and you need at least 5 for the polling station. Now add a on site technician for 30$/hr (worker might get paid 20$/hr-22$/hr but it costs 30$/hr to have on site). And on top of that you will still need 5 people present for the normal voting time 10 hours. New operations costs:

• $300 technician (30$/hr *10 hours)
• $750 workers (15$/hr *10 hours)
• $25,00 one time cost for voting machines

So now to find the cross over point take $25,000 + $750*session = $1800*session. This comes out to be 100/3 sessions or at least 34 sessions. If you had say 7 public votes a year that would mean it would take 5 years before the machines would be more cost efficient then people*. These numbers favor the voting machines and show the absolute fastest time one could expect for voting machines to be more cost effective then senior citizens. And by that time the machines would be obsolete or likely to have a critical bug that would render them useless.
*This excluded maintenance costs, certification costs, storage costs, ext.

Even without worrying about the issues of mass machine manipulation like Wu and others screech about it is easy to show how voting machines are dumb just on a cost basis alone.

But without Wu in tech there won't be any more spicy takes about moon rocks, Russian hacking, or bitcoin power consumption.
