I just really don't understand this whole Star Wars stunt. There's no way Brianna is deluded enough to think that there are 200 people within driving distance that would pay money to attend a movie with her. I don't even really understand the event itself, she says she needs $4000 total, I'm assuming that's to rent out the theater, along with the actual ticket costs? But at the same time she's calling it a fundraiser? How can you earn any funds from this? Or is she going to be asking for more donations during the event? Why would you even organize a meeting with voters in the one scenario where you're not allowed to talk like a movie screening?

Because it's what John wants and that's it. He could quite easily hold a family fun-day which incorporates a wider audience, more fundraising and more potential votes, but that's not what John wants.

Look at any of the "campaigns" John has done or where the money has gone, every single dime has been something HE wanted.

And in the future when John does anything else, it will only be because it benefits him. I can assure you there is nothing AT ALL in this shambles of a campaign that will make John say "well, it's not what I want but it's what the people want".

John trying to pretend that this is the kind of "outreach" millennials want is pretty condescending when you think about it. Never mind that none of this is remotely directed to the actual voting demographic of District 8 so he's once again reaching out to that invisible audience of a million women who have never voted before because there was no woman on the ballot and young, woke nu-males who are hungry for the technarchy revolution.

But anyways, I can see why Brianna would think this is a successful strategy. Remember, Brianna Wu self-identifies as a young, cool woman and, since this appeals to him, it must be great for the actual young voters out there.

Yeah, sick burn bro...

the best in completely fabricated backstories.png

Except for the part where, like everything about Wu's past, it's completely made up.
I'll let wikipedia explain...

The practical upper limit for acoustic-coupled modems was 1200-baud, first made available in 1973 by Vadic and 1977 by AT&T. It became widespread in 1985 with advent of the Hayes Smartmodem 1200A. Such devices facilitated the creation of dial-up bulletin board systems, a forerunner of modern internet chat rooms, message boards, and e-mail.

I'm so sick of ignorant twats taking Wu's "I'm a rad engineer" shtick at face value. The actual campaign proper can't come soon enough so Wu can be outed as the talentless, lying grifter that she is.

Sorry John, you're not that old. Good try at a burn though.

This is mildly interesting. Wu's abortive Star Trek viewing party fundraiser kinda almost sorta happened. At least Wu's associates created an eventbrite page for it.

Wu never publicised it, which means no one will actually show up. Of course it wasn't at Wu's ratty shithole of a house, but at the house of Scott Lefton who is a 55+ year old friend of Frank's from the Hugo awards dick sucking circuit. I feel so sorry for Frank, constantly having to call in favours from friends to prop up his "wife"'s delusions. I think this guy might be something like the 4th or 5th of Frank's buddies that have somehow got themselves mixed up with BriBri's flight of fancy.

John is smart in one regard: He refuses to be caught in a situation where he can't control the questions.

To his credit, this means he can't be hammered too hard on his numerous screwups, lies, and any uncomfortable stuff about his past.

The stupid part is that if he wants to get anywhere near being elected, he's gonna have to face the lions sooner or later, and as we've seen, he's plainly terrified of doing so.
I do sometimes wonder if maybe Frank has on more than one occasion talked John out of doing certain interviews or gotten him to tone-down or delete tweets because they'd attract more attention than John could handle and given his huge ego, would cause Mr. Flynt to make an even bigger fool of himself.

More than likely. The Brianna Wu myth is a two-man operation.

Here's the e-mail John sent out promoting the Star Wars screening.

The primary isn't until next year, so he'll be around for the screening. This whole campaign is an act of masturbation on John's part, and there's no reason to quit before he loses.
I think I would die of laughter if she rented the cinema hall, but forgot to rent the movie.
