If we've learned anything from Brianna's tall tales, it's that she shapes them to illustrate her own narrative. Rather than using real life examples, she changes real life because -- she's spent all of her 40 years doing it. She's brazen.
I'd wager no such untalented frat boy yokel journalist exists, which would surprise no one. But now that Wu is running for office, being this specific becomes risky.
I wonder which Ole Miss and Millsaps grads from the mid-90s to mid-2000s went to politico. I doubt it's even a half dozen people and I doubt any of them resemble this description. But boy, wouldn't they be thrilled to see someone like Wu (whom they will remember as a raving nutter with zero skill) talking smack like this.

Hey, that's a cool story, Wu. I too knew of a student who fancied himself a super enlightened beacon of knowledge. He too came from an absurdly privileged background, which he then pissed into the wind on two failed startups and a drug addiction. Then he grew up to be a real asshole, made a shit game, and decided to get into politics.
Oh I promise you, he does.

I'm sure he exists but I'm certain he didn't end up at Politico. Don't guys like this usually end up in sports reporting?
I wouldn't be surprised if Brianna created a composite of former classmates to push this narrative forward. Or more likely she just made it all up because she's lazy and has no sense of reality or the rules of polite society.

Sorry, it was a mean-spirited joke.
I was referring to Wu's tendency to tell stories that sound suspiciously like her own while claiming they're some nameless guy she knew in college, as though she's separated the life of John Flynt into some other person.
Like, she always talks about some college guy who was a staunch republican from a privileged background, with a few details changed here and there.
Don't get me wrong, if I'd been John Flynt at one point, I'd be putting some distance between us as well, but it's an odd habit I've noticed over the years.
