I wouldn't necessarily dispute that at some point the moon could be a strategic waypoint, and is probably already being looked at as such by spacefaring nations, but this is a hell of a backpedal from "dropping rocks from the moon."

These people are being way too polite. I want to see someone come back with "where the fuck do you propose to get the energy to propel a sufficiently sized 'rock' out of lunar orbit, let alone into Earth orbit?" John could maybe have gotten away with refering to railguns or particle beams or some other such weapon platform, or even mention economic or scientific advantages of a nation or private party establishing a lunar outpost, but this fuckwit actually said "dropping rocks."

Edit: Aaaaaaand.... it's gone. BTFOOO (blown the fuck out of orbit). Lasted what... 5-10 minutes?

The whole thing is quite amusing, it's like watching an even stupider version of Armageddon, where some scientists got together and figured out that, in a similar situation, they could fire a 470kg weight at it, and simply knock it off course.
