It is a pretty good scheme to get your hands on free money, if you think about it:

Have a candidate who is destined to fail, but who will get a lot of donations from useful idiots all over the US (and even outside the US, if such can be accepted) then pump you money into everything you can claim as expenses. Pay yourself, buy a new PC you say you need for campaigning stuff, a second phone, new clothes etc. then put minimal effort in and when you are done refund as less donation money as possible.

Only problem is that most of us don't have a pet gnomeru with a magical pot of jew gold to bankroll this kind of insanity. Most of us have to hold down a job.
