As that woman said in her reply to that podcaster up above, there is no "coexistence" with troons. They offered compromises, but troons refused and demanded that they be let into every woman's space, including their most private ones, claiming that any less was genocide. Since trannies clearly won't ever meet in the middle, why should anyone cave into any of their demands ever again? They've shown their true colors as sick freaks looking to bulldoze regular society for their fetish, and normal people are sick and tired of them and would be fine if they just fucked off forever. The sob stories aren't going to work on the average person anymore.
John "regrets" not coming out as a troon earlier, even though it was obvious to everyone he was a man; I think it was within days or weeks of his barging into Gamergate that people figured out his real identity. I'll bet he doesn't "regret" lying about being an actual woman to place himself as the most vocal authority on women in tech so he could talk over real women about his totally real harassment, though.
Also, I have
major doubts John has any friends from his college days,

It's the old toaster-fucker problem. Sure, men who want to be women (and vice versa) have likely always existed, but back in the day, those thoughts never went anywhere because if you told someone, they'd call you retarded and you'd get over it. It wasn't until the internet allowed these like-minded individuals to find each other en masse that you had them reinforce each others' delusions and believe it was perfectly normal.
I don't know the full story of what happened between John and his family, but I'm guessing they had finally run out of patience with him by the time he dropped that bombshell on them. After a decade of college, getting him a cushy internship, paying for his rehab, paying for his animation studio, and generally supporting an utter drain on their existence for his entire adult life, I don't blame them for deciding to tell him to fuck off at last instead of trying to find counseling for him to help him get over his tranny delusions. At some point, you stop throwing good money after bad and cut your losses, even if it's a family member. Maybe John could have gotten the help he needed and accepted being a flamboyantly gay man, but it wasn't their responsibility to make him do so anymore at that point. And hey, because they didn't, we've gotten a decade of entertainment out of his stupidity, so I call it a win overall.
