This is the conventional wisdom but it isn't always the case. The HRC campaign was one of the most spit-balled, half-assed, shambolic failure of a campaign I've ever seen, maybe the worst in my adult lifetime. I think it's pretty much nothing. Not saying they have gotten zero donations especially early on, just saying that IIRC most of their expenditures have come from the left over money Cenk (and to a lesser extent John) transferred over from his failed campaign.
Except Trump never specifically said that. He was talking about finding a way to disinfect blood. It wasn't a great take, but we did see some experiments after that sort of attempting that EXACT THING. As well as how he talked about how UV rays killed the virus and somehow get that in you... and that was something being tested out too. There was some basis for what he was saying, even if he didn't fully understand it.
Trump is clearly not scientifically trained, but purifying (rather than disinfecting) blood is something dialysis machines do all the time. Besides, he merely asked whether it was possible. Compare that to Wu with the moonrocks nonsense where he not only claimed it with Dunning Kruger certainty, he then tried to get some physicist to back him up in an email chain. What a tool.
There is also plasma therapy which doesn't disinfect blood, but it does give a boost to antibodies fighting infections. It was effective enough that people who had Covid and donated plasma were getting extra money.
