Let me expound on that for the uninformed.

I have lasik, and when I got it I had to sign about 15 million forms about "YOU WILL EVENTUALLY NEED GLASSES AND THAT IS NOT OUR FAULT" because once you hit about 40 or so your eyes shrink and your lens become less flexible which means you will need reading glasses to see upclose; lasik only corrects distance vision and there is no surgical alternative for close vision, especially age-related, at this time.
So Johnboy is going to need to wear glasses anyway, even after dropping 10-20K to get his eyes cooked. Just get some quality bifocals my trigga'

Its not everyone that needs their readers. But its a high percentage of the population that does.

It also depends on what you're doing. If you are doing work/activities that depend primarily on distance vision, it might still be worth it to be able to do those without glasses even if you have squint at the restaurant menu held out at arm's length. there are also eye exercises you can do that may help with lens flexibility and eye shape, but also no guarantee on if they'll help or how much
