I don't know if I'm tired, but I really don't get his "joke" about SQL. What does he mean for heaven sake? Using expression "is null" or "is not null" is totally valid in 2020.
As a side note: totally incomprehensible to me is his assumption that anybody criticizes "indoctrination" in STEM topics, it's just beyond stupid.

"No RNG" sounds like bullshit to me, even if you restrict it to the tiny subset of levels that speedrunners actually play and ignore everything they jump over or glitch through. Are we supposed to believe that the bosses have no RNG? Does Wart's machine always spit out a vegetable at the same time and direction each playthrough? Does the red Birdo always have the same pattern of eggs vs. fireballs? I'm thinking not.

I'm guessing mainly bosses there too. Like, in SMB1 you're presumably doing the entire run as small Mario, so you could potentially get stuck waiting if Bowser doesn't jump or stop throwing hammers or do something to let you through.
Similarly in SMB3 you can't win until Bowser jumps however many times you need to break through the floor.

Any updates on how he's doing in the candidates' matches to face the 8-year-old international grand master who is the current world champion in Candyland?

I'm guessing he just hasn't bothered looking at the speedrun records since he posted his run four months ago. He got beat out by the current fifth place guy a month ago.

It's just funny how the only way he could even manage a top 10 in anything is by narrowing it down to some obscure category (that coincidentally lets him play out his autogynephile fetish). "Yes, I'm top 10 in the world at Super Mario Bros. 2...on the Super Mario All-Stars cart...only using Princess Peach...and I get to use a bug that lets me skip a bunch of worlds." This isn't just a John thing, this is a general speedrunner thing that I find amusing: people who can't git gud decide to go for an obscure game or narrow category nobody runs to get an easy high score.

For reference, the current world record any% run is just shy of 8 minutes 17 seconds. John's time would come in at 67th place. Narrowing it down to any% with the save-and-quit glitch, the record is 7 minutes 41 seconds; John would place 31st on that leaderboard. So much for girl power.
