This is a semantic and autistic post, but I'ma sperg out for a second because the terminology that's being used is triggering me:

Frank Wu is not a "patent troll." Patent trolls are guys or companies who claim to have a patent, but just sit on the technology and don't practice it. The term doesn't refer to the lawyers the trolls hire to represent them.

More importantly, Frank (as far as I can tell) is a patent agent, not a patent lawyer. This means he doesn't have a JD, hasn't passed the bar, isn't a lawyer, and spends his time drafting patent applications and providing technical know-how assistance. He probably isn't involved in any litigation or arguing cases or any of the activities that we would associate with patent trolling. The most you could say is that he possibly works alongside people who represent patent trolls, but calling him a patent troll is actually overstating the kind of work he does.

(not hating on patent agents, one of the sharpest guys I know works as one)
Sorry. I considered the fact both him and his wife are insufferable cunts and assumed the worst. We should look into him more. I saw some stuff earlier that he might be a domestic abuser. Does anyone know if that was a hoax? Anyone that's willing to live with her is certainly not right in the head.

I could sperg on about Sailor Moon for awhile
In the anime dub, Usagi and Rei act like typical catty girls for awhile
In R, Neo-Queen Serenity banishes a group of evil political activists off the fucking planet
In R, Pluto is ready to kill Moon, Venus and Tuxedo Mask for trespassing
In R, Chibimoon lets herself get corrupted and tries to kill the others so she can get with her own father
In S, I think all of the Outers are willing to destroy the world or kill the inners at some point
In S, Uranus and Neptune plan to kill Saturn before she destroys the solar system, which makes sense but still she's a sickly 12 year old girl who didn't do anything yet
In a SuperS special, Neptune risks humanity to save Uranus and states she wouldn't care if everyone else died
In most of the anime, Sailor Moon heals the villains and makes them good. In the manga she/they usually just kill them
In StarS, Uranus and Neptune kill Pluto and Saturn. It's part of a failed plot to stop the baddie but they don't seem all that torn up about it
In StarS Cosmos' plan is to destroy a shitton of souls to stop the bad guy, which would stop them from being reborn ever again
I'm paraphrasing a lot but also forgetting a lot that's just what I remember
Utena and EVA aren't as tumblr popular and thus don't have as many articles about how they are so feminist (which, don't get me wrong SM totally is). Is there anything else she actually praises as being super duper feminist aside from Sailor Moon and her own game?

Wu was probably a fan of something extremely problematic, like Dragonball Z and just doesn't want to admit it

This really reminds me of when I went to a sci-fi con last year. There was a Sailor Moon panel and it was VERY evident that the speaker had no idea what she was talking about. She had a VERY basic knowledge of the first season and was trying to make it about feminism, but completely fell flat. Even the little kids knew she was full of crap and wasn't a real fan. Someone asked her if she was going to watch Crystal and she said that if there weren't too many episodes. -- Crystal had just been announced... Pretty much after that everyone left because there was no point.

I can see Wu doing panels like that and thinks she's doing well, when actually everyone is just tolerating her because they were required to go, or just out of sheer politeness or awkwardness.

I'm not completely familiar with exactly what being a patent lawyer/agent/whatever entails, but the interpretation I have in my head makes it a little ironic for someone who does that to be winning awards for drawing pictures of other people's creations

I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but does anyone else think Wu has been purposely dragging out whether Rev60 winds up on Steam or not?

Did a little thinking on the subject, and frankly, that will be the high watermark of this lolcow's time in the limelight, and if it does wind up on Steam, where Wu won't have the ability to censor it's detractors and if it tanks, is widely pirated, and has all sorts of mods made off it that either are Rule 34 or actually take the base game and redesign it from the ground up to be a much more competent product (that would be a more dire insult to Wu than mere porn parody) people will actually play, that would be incredibly damaging to Wu's delusional world of supposed genius, which so far has avoided a test on a mainstream scale that Wu cannot largely manipulate the results in his favor.

On the other hand, assuming it doesn't show up on Steam, Wu is screwed. Steam is the best chance Wu has getting people to give a damn about his crappy game on a wide scale, but for the reasons I just outlined, the chances are quite high it's release on Steam could be the beginning of the end of Wu having any claim to fame once his magnum opus is slaughtered by the opinions of actual gamers.

Either way, Wu stands to lose face regardless, so I'm of the belief this is being dragged out on purpose since on some level, he's aware of this as well.

This is Brianna's Catch 22: no matter which one she chooses it will result in failure, but she's desperate enough to try to drag out this limbo for as long as possible. She's made enough mistakes that her bubble of self-delusion is damaged beyond repair. Things are starting to slip out of her grasp, but so long as the Steam version remains unreleased she can daydream about the "inevitable" success to her heart's content.

I don't think we'll see a Steam release until Brianna needs a desperate grab for industry relevance. This could be a couple months to a year from now, but the port will only happen when she's backed up against the wall.

I took this directly from Giant Bomb site... http://www.giantbomb.com/giant-spacekat/3010-8754/

Giant Spacekat is a game developer specializing in cinematic experiences using the Unreal engine. They are most noted for their work on Revolution 60, a game with some of the most extensive animation on iOS to date.

There are also well known in the industry as an all-female game dev studio. Studio head Brianna Wu has stated to the press in interviews how this was not intentional, she simply hired people she clicked with, starting with her co-founder Amanda Warner and lead programmer Maria Enderton.

Giant Spacekat is also a frequent industry speaker on women in games and game development. On a subject so rife with controversy, the team has developed a reputation for being consensus builders, rather than firebrands. Brianna Wu has written about the formation of her studio in Marco Arment's "The Magazine," and she's an upcoming speaker for the IGDA.

Sure sounds like a well known game developer to me!

I hope the first mod adds jiggle physics.

All female, huh? Last time i checked at least one of them is a white male that, rather recently, underwent operational surgery to "become female".
Which doesn't make you female, biologically speaking.
Now, far from being the ignorant type, i do not judge nor care about gender identity or sex changes.
What pisses me off, however, are people who act like insufferable douchebags, attention whoring and the absurd abuse of real issues for personal gain (sometimes exaggerating or making shit straight up even), regardless of gender or race.

I can't stress this enough, he/she/it doesn't know jackshit about the life and the struggle of being a woman, yet constantly blurting shit out like this:

0KKphiw.png

This is idiotic on two (possibly more) levels.
First is the aforementioned fact that she hasn't quite the experiene to talk about grand women issues, yet never stops talkig about it (or being consulted as a representative thereof).
Second, and this is completely irrelevant to Brianna Who's gender identity, is the absolute hypocrisy (and fail of logic) of the her statements.
You can't fight prejudice, judgement and injustice regarding one half the population, by grossly prejudice and judge the other half.

Who the fuck does this little idiot thinks he is to pigeonhole men like that? Male privilege? Unconsciously assuming?
Did it ever occur to those people (let's face it, she is hardly the only one), that real life is not a twitter war? That there are men, nay, human beings in general, that are fully capable of dealing with gender issues in a mature way? You know, in daily life? In relationships?

Yet here i am, being faced with idiots that are half my age, too insecure to even approach women, spouting cliched shit like how women will take half your stuff, when they eventually break up with you, or yell about "white male privilege", like all men have a real choice what kind of protagonist is chosen in movies or video games.

Personally, I don't fucking care. As a matter of fact, i'm the kind of person that embraces creativity and fresh ideas.
So have an asian, female Panda be the hero of your story. Put gay characters into your world. Hurl androgynous aliens at me. I don't care, all i care about if it's well written and mature.

Oh well, i started rambling again and in the end my post was in danger of becoming too much about me, personally, so i'll leave it at that.

For now.

There's also that little problem of that input thing being nowhere even fucking close to exclusive to men.

Just look at anything regarding F/M abuse or rape or say, Movember and see how many women tried to hijack it in some way from "this doesn't exist" to "well that's because misogyny" or "well women have it worse all the time so not important" (unless it's something that disproportionately affects men in which case the same people will decry them for "appealing to worse problems")

Or the ones who think taking women's studies make them an expert on men ("Men sitting with their legs apart is a deliberate display to intimidate women!" "When he says no he's just trying to control and abuse you!")

Hell, I'd say they're much worse than men for butting into shit like that.

"Men sitting with their legs apart is a deliberate display to intimidate women!"

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, or if this is a real quote. Which in itself is telling enough.

If a person really feels intimidated by someone sitting with his/her legs apart, he or she has some personal issues and should try to fix them first.
Also, men (and women) display a all sorts of behaviour, most of which is not deliberate.

For example, the human brain will first work out whether a person is male or female and only then will try to work out if it knows said person. Does this make us sexist? No, it merely makes light of the many evolutionary developed behaviours that control us subconsciously in everyday life.

I take it you haven't heard of Manspreading:

Oh dear. I do have to admit, "Manspreading" is a word i would have rather associated with porn (most likely the gay kind).
But i do know about studies that showed that some men, sometimes, will spread their legs (again, subconsciously) in presence of an attractive female.

But studies are done with only a fraction of the general population (for obvious practical reasons) and no respected scientist would claim their findings to be the all and end all truth about human nature and society.

I think it's been lost to the swamp that is the internet but no: I'm not joking, I'm not being sarcastic. I've seen someone literally argue that average joe slouching on the bus is "crotch display" to intimidate wymyn. And people agreeing with them, doubtlessly many more clueless morons who think they know how the other sex works because their Babysitter womens' studies teacher said so.

ADF even wrote a zine about it:

There was also MANSLAMMING (A woman who set out to prove men don't get out of the way of women in public by intentionally walking into them) but that didn't really take off.

Then why did Wu make the female characters of her game assassins?

Última edición:
Manspreading is so dumb. So dumb. Look if someone is taking up a ton of space yeah, it's rude. But 99% of the pictures I've seen of it have been a guy with his legs slightly open, the transportation is no where near full and if a man had taken the same picture they'd be screaming creepshot.

Look, sometimes balls end up in uncomfortable positions and unless you want me reaching down and readjusting it, you're going to have to deal with my legs sometimes being open.

Manspreading should have made it clear to anyone that third-wave feminism has run out of things to complain about. Somehow it hasn't, and I weep every day.

I manspread on the bus every day of my goddamn life and have never got a complaint. Why? Because none of these rich assholes actually have to take the bus anyway, they all live on campus or Daddy bought them a car. They just actively hunt down things to complain about.

I thought you tweeted about how geek people are privileged in fucking Star Trek?

5. Wu posted her thoughts about a recent study about how modern video games don't cause sexism. Posted here in quotes and my favorite parts in bold.
Clearly, something in gaming is wrong, but Breuer’s research would seemingly let games off the hook for creating a sexist atmosphere. Brianna Wu, the cofounder of developer Giant Spacekat and another target of harassment by some gamers, disagrees. She takes particular issue with the methodology Breuer used to determine sexist attitudes, which asked respondents whether they agree or disagree with sentiments like “even if both partners work, the woman should be responsible for taking care of the household.”

“The scale this study uses was devised by [researchers Donna Brogan and Nancy Kutner] in 1976,” Wu told GamesBeat. “The questions ask the respondents if they agree with ideas like, ‘The man should be responsible for all major decisions made in a family.’ It’s great that gamers don’t agree with those ideas more than the general population — but it’s not the problem I see in the industry, and it’s not what other women see in the industry.”

Wu says that sexism in 2015 is more subtle and insidious than it was in 1976.

“It’s not that men believe that women shouldn’t be gaming and should be making sandwiches instead,” said Wu. “It’s that gamers have strong unconscious biases against women. When they think about what a gamer looks like, it doesn’t look like me — and that affects how they treat me and other women on an unconscious level.”

Wu went on to point out that the study doesn’t consider why women are harassed more than men when they use online services like Xbox Live or why women game journalists get more threats than their male counterparts.

I asked Breuer what he would say to critics of gaming who still believe games are somewhat responsible for bolstering or excusing sexist attitudes. He didn’t buy it.

“I would agree that many games — or at least parts of their contents — can be considered sexist,” Breuer said. “But, similar to the debate about violence in games, I would rather say that games are more influenced by ‘real life’ or ‘society’ than vice-versa. In this case, this would mean that some games do proliferate sexist or other negative cultural stereotypes, but they certainly do not cause them. In general, I would say that the effects of the contents of video games — be they violent or sexist — on people’s actual attitudes or even behavior are often overestimated.”

But Breuer doesn’t completely excuse games.

“You might also say that, even though sexist content in games has little effect on players’ real-life attitudes and behavior, they also provide no reason to change preconceived sexist beliefs,” said Breuer.

And while Wu doesn’t believe that this research debunks her criticisms, she does accept that Breuer is after the truth.

“It’s clear that these are honest academics,” she said. “But in the study’s conclusion, they say themselves they’ve only scratched the surface of this problem and more research needs to be done.”

And here's the article: http://venturebeat.com/2015/04/14/g...searcher-finds-but-one-critic-is-unconvinced/
