I am so not surprised to learn that Brianna Wu liked P.N. 03. Also, could @Smutley or one of the other brave souls who played R60 confirm whether or not that image looks improved?

I am glad you asked!

Here's the full shot from her twitter of the re-rendered cutscene

So yeah, okay, looks crisper with a tighter camera. But why is that? Because this cutscene, as she announced, is fucking pre-rendered. Her game is so poorly optimized she can't afford to have in game cut scenes in environments where too much stuff happens at once and in this scene we have explosions and running and multiple set changes.

For reference, here's another clip during game play.

Great work Wu you sure rendered the shit out of that clip your cutscene now looks ALMOST as good as your game play wow 100% great job best developer of the century.

Looks like the '90s are back in full force :wow:

You know, it just hit me that Wu's screenshot confirms she isn't doing jack shit to change her character models after all the criticism she got for them on the Greenlight page. Why else would she go through the trouble of working on HD character models she (supposedly) won't be using because of their unrealistic depiction of the female anatomy?

Huh, and here I thought dress codes had something to do with getting people ready for a business setting be thankful you spoiled fucks don't have to wear blazers in the fricken summer like some of us did.

And gee no shit that boys don't get told that when their wardrobe pretty much amounts to "Tshirt or full sleeve+pants" and they get banhammered from school for wearing girl clothes.

Almost like these people are fuckwits or something.

Yikes at that "HD" remake! Doesn't she know the basics of HD remakes? Which is : Don't touch the game itself, but add bloom and fix old textures with one more sharper, then sell it for 40$ :ween:

And there is female Megamen(?), Wu. Aile and Ashe from the Megaman ZX series were the female equivalent of the MC (As you could choose gender when you started the game) and were written well, as nobody gave a shit what gender you were in the story.

5. RAPE CULTURE ALERT

Maybe it's because I'm a Brit and don't understand American culture but isn't it teachers who enforce the dress code? (When I was in highschool one of the reasons they gave for this was because they didn't want students worrying if they could afford expensive brands/keep up with fashion trends since peer pressure is already bad enough at high school)

Are they saying teachers are perpetuating rape culture and sexualizing their students by enforcing dress codes?

I dunno why people would even complain that there's no female Megaman when there is Samus Aran, who (no offense to Megaman fans, I love those games too) is a fucking badass. I'd much rather have Samus Aran as-is than a female Megaman.

Basically they're saying that telling adolescent females to dress appropriately for a social/learning environment is somehow sending the wrong message.

This sign is ridiculous because it basically says "if you're attracted to 13-18 year old girls you're fucked up," while completely disregarding the fact that a school is also filled with 13-18 year old boys. Dress codes are designed with the students in mind, not the teachers. They're not rules set down to keep teachers from raping their students, they're designed to minimize distractions among the students. But I guess apparently if you're a 14 year old boy and you're attracted to an 18 year old girl, you're a rapist and a pervert

How the hell did she manage to have the game look that bad? Unity and most other game engines come with so many lighting effects and shaders bundled that there is no reason for it to look that bland.

Don't know the engine shes using but I'm pretty sure she left on the basic sun or skydome sort of lighting. You could improve the look of this game with a few clicks pretty quickly.

Imagine if she turned all the lighting and converted every piece of "tech" that would have lights into a light source. It'd be a shitty but still passable way to create dramatic lighting that looks like it belongs in the scene. Take about half an hour probably for the whole game.

I'm think she used the Unreal engine, though I'm not sure which version.

This might just be me, but is there something off about the skin tone on the girl on the left? It's just sort of flat beige without any warm notes in it. Really completes the whole "walking mannequin" look. Is she supposed to be a robot or something?

Wait, never mind. She looks slightly better in the other screenshot Smutley posted. So I guess it's just shitty light sources.

Ok, to be fair, we don't have any context for the photo. Ergo we don't know what dress code rules they're rallying against, and some schools can get ridiculously draconian in that regard. A common rule I've seen is that girls are not allowed to wear pants or skirts that stop anywhere above the knee. Also there's those famous cases where girls are not allowed to wear strapless dresses to dances because they're "distracting" the boys with their exposed shoulders.

That said, I doubt Wu is thinking about the subject in those terms. She probably just saw the words "rape culture" and hit retweet.

She made the game using UDK3. Which seriously leaves no excuse for it turning out like it did. Even if she wanted stylized designs she could have gone about it better. Look at TF2, or even older games like XIII

I mean this game came out in 2003 using the Unreal 2 engine there is no good excuse.

Same here. Can Mega Man even pull of a screw attack or a continuous somersaulting jump?

Lol I'd like to see a r60 game where gangly brianna wu's in spandex murder wave after wave of john flynts with QTEs
It would no doubt be better than R60 itself.
