If GG does in fact play host to a load of transphobia

While there are definitely transphobic GGers out there, I don't think that GG is infected with transphobia anymore than society at large. Wu trying to connect GG in particualr to Alcorn's suicide feels to me like a Jack Thompson-esque attempt to exploit a tragedy to further an agenda.

This is exactly how I feel. There's no doubt that transphobia is a major problem in our society, which Leelah's suicide sadly proves. I'm not really sure how pointing out that the note didn't contain any references whatsoever to gaming or GamerGate is disingenuous when it's the truth; like NegaCWC said, people are mad at Brianna for singling out GamerGate and acting like it was a major contributing factor to Leelah's suicide when Leelah explicitly spelled out that it was the rejection that she faced from the people who were supposed to support her that pushed her over the edge. It just feels like Brianna is ignoring the bigger picture in favor of pushing her agenda.

It's actually ironic. Gamers would have been more likely to accept her for who she is than just about any other group.

It seems that just about every lolcow at some point crosses a line where you go from laughing at their ridiculousness to being truly disgusted at their behavior. Chris with shecameforcwc, or more recently doxxing people who ordered medallions. Jace telling Eli he dug his own grave in Israel. And now Wu exploiting someone's suicide over *actual transphobia IRL* for her own selfish internet crusade, attention whoring, or whatever the hell she's trying to do.

Seriously, look it up, either via the metacritic scores, the repeated interviews she's done for iMore. Or, because I feel like it, how about I simply string her up with her own words and citations:

Ugh, there are actually two things that disgust me about this:

1. Brianna ONCE AGAIN bitching about how nobody's paying attention to her (she's actually offended that fucking APPLE didn't give her a news story; I don't see why Apple has to have a press conference about you when all you did was make a game for iOS, Brianna) and claiming that it's because she's an oppressed Gamer Gurl when, in reality, it's because she doesn't even register on most people's radars. It's like she believes that the entire media world should stop in its tracks and talk about her endlessly and, when it doesn't, takes it as a personal offense and as evidence about her status as victim.
2. And why am I not surprised about Brianna being buddy-buddy with the person who gave her a prize? I'm neither pro nor anti-GamerGate (I think the entire thing has become extremely ridiculous on both sides), but I definitely sympathize with the pro side a lot more. From what I've seen, at least part of the indie scene is lousy with nepotism. It just seems like a ton of people are getting awards just for being friends with the award-givers; I feel bad for developers who aren't in the inner circle, because it must be impossible to penetrate that circlejerk. Admittedly, I don't know enough about the gaming industry to make a lot of judgements, but when Brianna fucking Wu's mediocre-at-best game is earning a GOTY award from someone she just so happens to be close with, I can't help but get suspicious.

I think she wants someone to hire her as a developer so she's using presumably someone else's money to run the game studio so she can get a foot in the door somewhere. It's not going to work because even on her best behavior with an impressive resume, she's not going to pass the coding portion of the interview even if everyone involved is one of her friends. She's not satisfied with being BOSS a title most actual developers would be ok with because she didn't earn it. She's never earned anything in her entire life.

It'd be interesting to see how different her life would have been if the cards hadn't been so overwhelmingly stacked in her favor.. we'll never know.

This is all going to come back and bite her in the ass within the next year. There's only so much money you can get being a victim. Victimhood is a commodity anyone can sell, and she currently has a market on it due to idiots who see her as some sort of poor gamergate victim. But victimhood is a tricky thing to cultivate because in order to keep getting attention it always quickly becomes outlandish, and even the most ardent supporters begin to back away.

Eventually Gamergate will die, but before it does there will be another victim in different industry, and she'll be left with four employees she can't pay, a half dozen unfinished games, and no support from all the bridges she burned from shit like this. She's going to keep her shrieking into the wind until she dies, but eventually it will be to no one but her henpecked husband that listens. Though I wouldn't put it past her to divorce him if someone manages to love quest her, Brianna has been proven to be inconsistent, flighty, and very willing to throw anyone under the bus for her own feelings.

She'll fall back on nepotism. There's some sort of indy gaming in-crowd and she's part of it, they stick together and use their resources to promote each other and attack opponents.

Not to mention that it's given out by fucking Polygon, a gaming website that's notorious for having an SJW slant. It's not even that well-known. So forgive me for not being blown away by Brianna receiving several awards that really don't have much prestige and that literally anyone can earn.

The worst part about this is that you just KNOW that Brianna is going to be bragging about this for months.
