I see woman characters as unexplained illogical assassins in skintight latex that have hourglass proportions and show too much skin. They are also bitchy and have poor reasoning and are incompetent. I thank God that Wu is changing these preconceptions of female characters.

Pics or it didn't happen. Once again Wu Man Chu pulls something out of its rump, without backing it up. I mean, it's totally like Tumblr isn't full of people who don't commit suicide on a daily base or discovered they have terminal cancer just to get some notes and reblogs.

The only thing that's been frustrating me about Brianna is that her recent content isn't lulzy enough. Back when she was still John Flynt she would be getting restraining orders from newspapers and wake everyone around her by dancing to Madonna in her dorms during the middle of the fucking night. Now she just cwies about gamergate, which is only funny when someone like Pakman or Hotwheels pwns her in a televised debate. What happend to you Brianna Wu? Your shit was strong back in the day but now it's stale. Why can't you go Jason Russel in the middle of San Diego or something?

That ENTIRE POST was how her parents were treating her like a freak and refused to accept her for who she was, being incredibly lonely because she had few friends, and falling into despair because her gender dysphoria was getting severe. She didn't mention Gamergate. She didn't mention gamers. She didn't even fucking mention video games. But Wu has to go on ahead and make everything about her because she's a self-absorbed twit.

Even though I am a bit skeptical (false suicide notes are pretty common on Tumblr), this person doesn't deserve to have her last words be hijacked by Brianna fucking Wu.

She's matured and I think she has friends now, like actual non tumblr friends, not the 5 other biggest freaks at her college, she has a husband. All these factors.

Its weird that she didn't considerer how she could relate to the victim about having gender identity issues or have any words of advice for other people that read the note. Nope it was gamers that did it, it is always the gamers. Maybe she doesn't consider herself trans or refuses to acknowledge that time from her life.

That really bugged me, too. I mean, I would say that transgendered people are one of the most misunderstood, if not the most understood, group in Western society and face really horrible discrimination and bigotry. Transwomen in particular are big targets. And yet, to my knowledge, Brianna has never said anything about her struggles as a transwoman. You would think that seeing that note would move her and make her want to speak about her own experiences, and yet all she did with it was scream "LOOK, GAMERS!!!" when the note had nothing to do with them. Like, what the hell?

This could be completely wrong, but I just get the feeling that Brianna really hadn't faced much discrimination or bigotry until GamerGate. She seems incredibly naive and oblivious; a few pages back, a tweet was posted where she said that above all other experiences in her life, the gaming industry staying quiet about GamerGate shook her faith in the innate goodness of humanity. For the victim in the note, what shook her faith in humanity was the fact that nobody in her life would accept her for who she was and saw her as a freak; what shook Brianna's faith is when a major industry didn't want to acknowledge an online catfight that's been going on for months. I think that's pretty telling.

Unfortunately, I was wrong about the suicide note being fake. Leelah Alcorn really did kill herself rather gruesomely by jumping in front of a truck a few days ago. What's really disturbing is that, when announcing the tragedy, her mom got her age wrong, misgendered her (still referring to her as a "son"), and even refused to admit that she committed suicide (stating that she was out for a morning walk and was hit by a truck instead of Leelah actually seeking out a truck and throwing herself in front of it). It's a very, very sad story.

So what I'm trying to say is that I'm about 100000% more disgusted with Brianna Wu. What the fuck is her baggage? And again, I'm really shocked by her lack of reaction. You would think that she's had similar experiences and can relate to Leelah's story, but she barely says anything. I really do think that Wu's lived a very sheltered, privileged (GASP) life.

The thrust of the suicide note is that everyone needs to fix their attitudes towards trans people. It's incredibly disingenuous to go 'but it didn't mention video games!'. If GG does in fact play host to a load of transphobia - which I'd think would be the part you want to dispute - then pointing it out as an example would only be common sense for someone as embroiled with this clusterfuck as Wu is.
