My name is Brianna Wu. I make games, including Revolution 60 which has been on two Game of the Year lists for 2014! Unfortunately, you may also know me better as a direct and sustained target of internet harrasment.

I got into videogames to make video games - but right now the majority of my workweek is wasted on fending off BS from people harassing me. Here's an example - this week I wake up, and someone has targeted our Wikipedia entries - including altering my husband's to say I gave him AIDS. So, I end up spending three hours getting that fixed.

Later that day, I have a well-known stalker that posts disturbing levels of information about my house, my car, my pets, my neighborhood. So, I waste hours documenting this for law enforcement. Later, this person emails me to say he's gone through my husband's blog and has more private information from there.

None of this has anything to do with videogames. But it's what I waste the majority of my time doing.

I have to be honest, I need some help or I'm not going to last. If I quit, that would signal a victory to those harrasing me. If you want me here, working to hold the people that break laws accountable, I need help. I have got to get back to making games.

Here's where you come in: If you appreciate what I do, please chip in so I can hire some help with the Women in Tech advocacy I do. I need someone to help me with the medial parts of dealing with my attackers so I can focus on my work, making and shipping games. I imagine we'll also have them work on women in tech advocacy.

• Sales of her award winning Twice-GOTY game currently aren't getting her the income she wants
• Instead of lowering her head and doing work she would rather spend all day fighting on twitter and updating wikipedia
• It's implied she can't continue to be a dev if people don't support her (but that's most likely pityfishing)
• Her well known stalker is most likely an attorney she picked a fight with, and her documentations with law enforcement are all legally acquired from both the government and HER AND HER HUSBANDS OWN BLOGS
• Sephiroth either wasn't real this entire time or wasn't getting paid and won't continue to work without a paycheck, since this entire patreon is set up to fund a salary for a social media manager

If she's really so concerned with making games, she really ought to put her (Daddy's) money where her mouth is instead of fishing for handouts and continually responding to/acknowledging her 'attackers'.

Like his LiveJournal page that hadn't been updated for years but was still active as of a couple weeks ago. More like people only know you for being a professional victim, Brianna. Seriously, how many people even knew she and her game existed until she forced herself into GamerGate drama?

I would never blame anyone for getting harassed, but I honestly feel like Brianna could get rid of all the harassment she's facing if she just shut the fuck up and actually worked on her game for a few days. Nobody cares about her; once she stops constantly screaming to make her presence known, she'll fade into obscurity in a day. That's probably why she continues to do so; at least subconsciously, she knows that she doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting attention based on her own merits so she resorts to being a professional victim instead.

As someone who really suffers with self-esteem issues, I try to never get down on people for their appearances. And I think that dragging someone's looks into an argument is a really low thing to do. But this has been building up inside of me ever since I saw Brianna Wu in an interview for the first time and I just can't hold it in any longer.

Brianna Wu is hideous.

Both inside and out, but I'm talking specifically about her physical appearance. The first time I saw her was when I watched an interview she was in, and I couldn't believe that someone would let themselves look the way she did when they know they're going to be seen by a lot of people (or even someone you don't know, such as the person interviewing you). She looked like she had just rolled out of bed (as I've learned, wild hair is kind of her signature thing). I don't know if she's trying to make a statement about the patriarchy or something, but Brianna, please love yourself and at least brush your hair before you get interviewed.

You know, if Gamergate disappeared tomorrow I don't think Brianna would be too happy. It seems like everything in her world is positioned around being a victim, being a lone voice fighting against the sexist masses, being the smart girl that breaks the mold and stands up for women ... etcetera. Without an enemy, she wouldn't be anything.

I wish she would--to indulge in the sexist language of the patriarchy--man up. All this Twitter slapfighting makes me think of the stereotypical shrieking harridan. Brianna, love, you're making our gender look bad. If you just buckled down and made games, there wouldn't be an issue.

Also, there's something horribly ironic about her supposedly being a crusader for the Truth About Gamergate while simultaneously smearing all of 8chan as child molesters. Nuance for thee but not for me, eh?

Because Brianna is TOTALLY making the gaming industry a more inclusive place for women by getting into slapfights on Twitter, avoiding working on her game, and spending every waking moment trying to stir up more drama. And she's the only one who can do it, too! There's literally no one else who can make the gaming industry a better place for women, it's just Brianna. That's why the world needs her!
