A short while ago Wu's patreon was dangerously close to going below the 2500 mark (which is the one where if met she says she can continue to employ Natalie). That was probably because Patreon changed it so it shows what people get after Patreon gets their cut. This is what Wu's patreon looks like now.

It jumped back up quickly which is pretty suspicious since there are only a few people who actually follow the amount Wu earns on patreon: Wu herself and people who dislike Wu. Considering Wu is all about trying to create the appearance of success rather than actually earn it I don't think it's crazy to consider that Wu is either donating to herself or prodding people in her social circle to donate more. Before Patreon made the change Wu's patreon was making a slow but steady decline and now within a short amount of time it's bumped up 300 bucks.

Anyone have any insight into this? I'm not an expert on patreon.

Wu literally does absolutely nothing of any worth.

All of her Patreon supporters fall under one (or more) of these categories:

• They did not research Wu's "career" beyond her self-imposed public persona. These are people who were ignorant enough to take her word regarding her accomplishments and credentials at face value. This also includes people who read the completely fabricated articles she had her cronies produce and got the wrong impression. If anything they're being swindled by their own inability to fact-check.
• People who subscribed to Wu a long time ago for a low dollar amount and have just forgotten about it. Not everyone is diligent in checking their credit card transactions when the bill comes every month, and it's easy to skip over a small charge.
  
• Members of Wu's dwindling SJW money circle-jerk who donate when necessary to maintain the facade of relevance and importance in an environment that's actively rejecting them.
• Frank and Brianna's sock accounts that serve the same purpose as the previous point. Only more pathetic.

Eh, she's semi-high-profile by internet standards, and out of the millions of observers, she's bound to get a few people who just want to latch onto something. I've briefly considered the logistics of fielding 50 small patreon donors to pay my rent, but then I remember that I have both a job and integrity.

They get 5% so they'd only be losing out on around 15 bucks from it dropping over 300 bucks. They may also be trying to be a bit more vigilant about this kind of stuff due to the leaks that showed people essentially donating money to each other to inflate how much it appears they're receiving. At this point I'm going to assume patreon is bugging out though.
