VR will go the way of 3D and motion controls. It's not going to change the game industry.
VR's very good for certain types of games, but for 90% of the rest of games, it's definitely a waste of time. And I can't imagine it getting big outside arcades in the near future with all the hassle involved in setting it up.

Either Wu is putting a lot of unsubstantial faith in VR's future or she's playing the long con.
She encourages women to get into VR tech and the industry is soon full of them (assuming women actually get into it, instead of just encouraging each other to get into it) but then VR remains a niche market with a couple of gimmicky games coming out each year but few large releases. Brianna then relaunches her professional Twitter whining career complaining about how women in tech were forced into the "VR ghetto" to keep them away from mainstream gaming.

My money is on the former. Brianna is too short-sighted for a long con.

Hmm, who should I believe on gender issues in VR? Brianna Wu, or John Carmack?

If Wu has such issues with men chiming in about the issues of women, maybe she should keep her VR opinions to herself. She's proven time and again to be completely ignorant about the subject and the state of the industry in general, and she has no experience in anything related to VR.

Revolution360: the VR Experience

For Sure Totally Coming Out Next Year, Shut Up Stop Harrassing Me

I just realized that she could announce Revolition360, to ask for more money so Wu can add Oculus Rift support to her shitty game.

...of course this will never happen, but it could give her a year more or so to release her crap on steam, if people eat it up.

Well, wait, VR? What happened the the gimunga-gigga-huge million dollar baby she was going to change the world with? Wasn't it supposed to allow us to transport ourselves to the far side of Alpha Centauri with just the power of thought, or something?

You mean her new engine that was going to "replace Twine?" I heard it was capable of time travel, and had a telepathic user interface.

That is her million dollar thing. The "I'm a victim, give me money" shtick is running out of, er, Steam. She is going to set herself up as one of the world experts in VR, by talking about VR a lot, and not releasing a lot of VR games.

Maybe it's because we're so aware of her particular brand of bullshit or it really is that unfeasible that she'd know her shit here (maybe a bit of both), but this particular con of hers... I can't see it going very far or lasting very long. I can't wait for the next embarrassing scramble to do something that makes her look credible after this one falls out.
(To think, so many of these problems wouldn't've happened if Brianna were actually a gamer.)

One problem with that - Brianna has to then actually talk about VR. We've seen one of her presentations on the subject before and, just like every other speaking event she's ever done, all she talks about is herself. While initially she'll be able to use her connections or bullying tactics to get low-end bookings from people who don't know better, she's not going to be able to keep it up for long because people will catch on to her schtick. Just speaking from personal experience as someone who has attended their fair share of conferences and organized a few, the speakers like Wu get found out real quick and usually don't get invited back a lot.

Not a gamer? Maybe a round or two of hardcore Peggle will change your mind.

I'm going to make a prediction: The Bloodborne expansion The OId Hunters will come out before Wu finishes Rev60 for PC.

One problem with that - Brianna has to then actually talk about VR. Just speaking from personal experience as someone who has attended their fair share of conferences and organized a few, the speakers like Wu get found out real quick and usually don't get invited back a lot.

This, especially given that Wu wouldn't even get speaking engagements were it not for her personal friendship with those hosting them.
