Anti-GG is not very smart, just very loud and very well connected. I've seen a theory or two that suggests that their battle plan is something like this:
Step 1: Get more people than GG by screeching endlessly about evil soggy knees nerds
Step 2: Crush GG with the sheer weight of the outraged masses
The problem is that GG is nowhere near as big an issue as they want it to be. Not enough people give a fuck and none of the respected publishers are willing to take a stand either way.
The SJWs aren't good at adapting. "Get a big mob together and swarm them to death" is their only tactic--the fact that swarm tactics have so far failed to end GG simply mean that they need to get a bigger swarm.
The problem is one Wu and the SJW idiots don't seem to realize, or they are in deep denial about.
Gamergate has tarnished their credibility considerably. Sure, they have their little enclaves where they are considered absolutely correct, but the mainstream either does not care or insists on being relatively honest now, they can't just force their narrative automatically anymore.
Second, they've fucked up numerous times, and the chips in the wall of stone have been adding up. Sarkeesian can no longer get the masses to swallow her bullshit so easily, Quinn got bitchslapped in court and even threw Anita under the bus on that UN fuckup to save herself some further embarrassment. Their white knights have been getting mocked to hell and back, and their lynch mobbing isn't half as effective now that the GG side has organized places where that shit is powerless and enough neutrals have seen the light that the soggy knee argument just doesn't work automatically anymore.
As we saw with Wu, actual feminists and journalists have kicked his shit in several times over and outright called him a liar, and Wu literally cannot get anyone but the diehard sycophants to care anymore.
Unfortunately, Wu and the antis are still stupid enough to think blowing the smoke of outrage will obscure their bullshit, not realizing that they are running out of smoke and what little they produce has the neutrals highly skeptical of having any real fire behind it at this point.
In short, Wu and these recent threats towards that GG panels have the same terrified logic behind them:
DAMMIT, WE'RE LOSING RELEVANCE! QUICK, GET SOME MORE OUTRAGE STARTED TO GET THE SHEEP TO GIVE A FUCK THAT WE EXIST AGAIN!
Problem is, that trick has been worn out by now, and the anti's (and Wu in particular) are too fucking stupid to learn.
