She does have a small column in MacLife, a second rate, tiny circulation monthly magazine. I highly doubt she's "well paid", maybe a couple of hundred bucks a month at most.
She hasn't a clue what she's talking about most professional lighting rendering these days is done on the GPU not CPU… but NOT the sort of GPUs the Mac Pro has. Mac Pro GPUs only work with OpenCL code, I don't think there is even a global illumination engine on the market yet that utilises OpenCL it's all CUDA (Nvidia cards).
One of the sad realities of our current PC culture is this ends-justify-the-means mentality which would, ultimately, make Wu's cohorts entirely satisfied with "reeducation" to "the right way" of thinking. Burgess and Orwell would be relegated to the trash heap of irrelevant dead white patriarchs.

Because they either didn't know or they wisely believed that their attendees would be like you and would think paying for lan was dumb when the hotel has wifi.
Furthermore I'm sure you think it's the hotel because you see a bunch of pros next to you with a bigass camera streaming just fine in 1080p Those guys are the primary reason you can't do shit. they have a high def UDP stream to their content network's entry point right there in town and it's practically DoSing everyone else. Chances are at least one of them knows this and is smugly laughing as their competition in the nobody-podcast world is fumbling with their iphones all around them at yet another event as they try and http upload to their free streaming site on the other side of the country.
