Fuck you guys, I still believe. Y'all are a bunch of negative nancies.
One of these days it will come out........ I still believe...

*Rates optimistic*

It's never going on Steam. John will either just ignore it and hope people forget, keep making excuses until people don't care, or blame the boogeyman.

I think even John has realized by this point that he hates game development. His true passion is wrestling GooberGators. Unfortunately, as he trudges through the swamps trying to find some to wrestle with, or even just flat out making his own fights, less and less people give a shit.

He doesn't want Rev 60. He wants people to whine at him about Rev 60 so he can go feel justified on Twitter. But that time is gone now.

I almost feel bad. John just wants the olden days back, the days of Deagle and street racing and threats. Now he's just a shadow of his former self.

The Goobergators have fed. They are now fat and lazy.

Wu is the Tommy Wiseau of gamedev.

There are some similarities besides the final product being terrible: Wiseau wasted a ton of money during production (shot the film with both a 35mm camera and an HD camera - both of which he bought instead of renting). And was difficult to work with (had to replace nearly everyone, sometimes twice). And like Wu, the story was more for himself than anyone else ("The Room" was meant to be a serious drama, very heavily "inspired" by a bad breakup).

There is an important difference, howe'er.

When people mocked the output he'd worked so hard for, he *rolled with it.* Re-branded it a "black comedy," had midnight showings, went out and met the fans - where he's apparently quite friendly. He made a bad movie, but he made a movie. One that is currently available for purchase, unlike Rev 60. And attained a modicum of success; irony dollars spend the same as earnest ones, after all.

But even the status of "likable weirdo" is far beyond Brianna Wu to attain at this point.

A few hundred if Wu is lucky. Remember that the Kickstarter backers get a free copy of the game. PC gamers are a little more selective than mobile gamers as well. Only chance this has of selling in the thousands is if it gets bundled with a bunch of other indie games for a couple bucks.
Or as a permanent 90% off title (those exist)

Tommy also included a sex scene starring himself that was essentially softcore porn, which the female actress in the scene later described as just short of sexual assault. I feel like this is comparable to the way Wu sexualizes his creations(visible panties, erect nipples modeled in 3D) in that they're both just acting out this fantasy with themselves as the star.

I know the former all-female staff of Giant Spacekat has been pretty quiet about their time on the inside, but I'd be willing to bet money that Wu would happily cross the line of sexual harassment under the guise of "we're all just girls here", I'm dying to hear their stories.

Here are Wiseau and Wu contrasted in two short videos. Wiseau rambles along about what it means to be in love:
And Wu talks about how she is ashamed to be a gamer, as they have become the bullies now, "I would want to help if I was hurting some," and so on:

You can tell immediately who would neglect their dog to death for victim vouchers. Or who has a basic humanity and ability to smile and joke around, versus an earnest but overly intense, wild eyed stare. They are both serving up empty platitudes, but one is smiling, having fun and bullshitting from the heart about something people actually deal with in an optimistic way. Like a well meaning but babbling and slightly drunk friend.

The other is making up a bullshit problem, devoid of any of the enjoyment of playing games. Offering no solutions or advice, only that if they caused harm (which she doesn't because she is A Feminist Reptilian of Tech with the murderous reptile brain to match) they would care about those they hurt. It is the opposite of an attempt of helpful advice to spread empathy. It is a condemnation from a face that slightly resembles The Toxic Avenger if he had been pulled back immediately from his disfigurement, leaving only a slight par boiling effect.

You're quite right; and how amazingly well said!

The video of Wu is a fascinating study: Wu thinks she's a very sophisticated bullshitter; like a kid put on the spot in English class and asked to opine about the day's reading material, Wu fancies herself bulletproof in the realm of ideas, seeing debate and discussion as all-accepting, non-judgemental and (perhaps most importantly) entirely subjective. She consequently spins this wholly insincere, entirely fabricated narrative about a (as you said) problem which doesn't actually exist, seeking to will it into being by sheer force of her bravado and bad acting skills.

You've stumbled upon one of the biggest elements of Wu's uncanny valley demeanor: the insincerity of it all. Wu's gestures are so forced, so over-repeated, so unlike the gesticulations of a genuinely sincere human who seeks to underline and augment where the stresses of their argument lie; they necessarily read as entirely fake to all but the most socially stunted among us, simply by virtue of the contrast between their appearance and the presentation of what we recognize as fundamentally sincere gesticulations. As has been said, the human eye is quick to identify fakery, even if the revealing clues are unknown in the moment.

And yet, just as Wu once infamously mocked the blindness of their audience to the repetition of Socially Unconscious comic strips, finding patronizing humor in the idea that her readers were too ignorant or unsophisticated to see through her indolent repurposing of jokes already utilized, so too does Wu seem to underestimate the perceptiveness of her rhetorical audience, leading her to constantly repeat the same tired, disproven "points" (Jace, anyone?) and overdramatic conversational emphasis, such as her closing gesture of choice, the slow nod of self-possessed assurance, which I imagine she sees as sincere and compelling... given how ridiculously often she uses this "technique" to add closing stress to her rhetorical masturbation.

Wu is clearly her own biggest fan, very impressed with her pathologically crippled sense of humor (which is more than apparent both in her odd and cringe-worthy attempts at badinage during public appearances, such as the painful introduction to her GamesBeat 2015 interview, at roughly 39 seconds into the following video, when she brings up the dragon trinkets speakers were apparently gifted with, apropos of nothing, seeming to find this interplay so intensely witty that her self-satisfaction borders on the bizarrely flirtatious, obscenely mixed though it is with her frighteningly familiar tooth-baring tics and an odd propensity for hammy, almost Dangerfield-esque eye-rolling and exaggerated sighs... as well as the childish inanity of her many dead-in-the-water Twitter jokes)
and odd sartorial choices. Nowhere is this undeserved self-confidence as pointedly inappropriate as in Wu's impression of the effect her own displays of faked emotion and insincere conversational sleight-of-hand will have on her audience, as when she crafts wholly false supports to her own arguments to defend the narrative of "Brianna Wu, crusader against the evils of gaming". An oft-repeated example of this tendency is her assertion that male gamers have "been told they're the center of the world" and thusly treated with deference and graciousness, when any lifelong gamer knows that the hobby has been seen since its inception as evidence of social ineptitude and nerdy isolation to the world at large, a perception which necessarily led its adherents to be marginalized if not openly mocked, and that Gaming-writ-large has only recently become a less-stigmatized pastime.

Wu's inability to see just how half-assed and slapdash her arguments come across would seem to be evidence of further contempt for her audience, rather than the dogged self-confidence of an OPL, whose childish assurance in the quality of their own output seems almost endearing in comparison.

In that video she says "if shes hurting someone I want to know about that." Really Wu? Shes a constant bully on twitter and doesnt for a second bat an eye when taking other peoples money thinking that might not hurt them if they dont get anything in return.

Thought I'd help John with a little promotional tidbit, since he's in the midst of crunch and all...

...You're welcome, SpaceKats!

Tommy Wiseau's movie is so bad that it's actually entertaining. Wu couldn't make something that good if he tried. Tommy used his own money, Wu used his parents', then Frank's. Tommy Wiseau's delusions are harmless, Wu's are often full of malice. Comparing Wu to Tommy Wiseau isn't fair to Tommy Wiseau. They do look exactly alike though.
FTFY. Don't downplay The Room to Rev60's level of badness.
Yeah you got some pretty good value for money for your degree, John :^)
