Johnanna clearly doesn't realize that while Syfy's CGI is utter balls. His is is much worse.

It strikes me this blurring is either because of defamation reasons, considering they're making bogus characterizations of this video or, possibly, copyright. Presumably Tyce owns the copyright to this shit. It's almost certainly a fair use, though, so I'm going with defamation. I.e. they know they're airing utterly false bullshit.
I'd say deformation myself, considering how warped Jace's part of the story is and all. While I'm sure copyright might have played a part (highly unlikely). It probably was Syfy trying to make this into "entertainment".

It's safer that way but if that were really the case, all news would be filled with blurred footage because there is no way that they get releases from every one of the millions of people who show up.

Though yes, right of publicity is another issue here.

To some extent, once you release footage of yourself, though, you're granting an implied license to at least look at it, and once you've legally obtained footage like that, such as by downloading from YouTube, you're entitled to make fair use of it.

Blurring it does make it clear, though, that they're entirely aware they're engaging in some fairly janky behavior.

stranger blurs have happened, and from more legit sources.

There are all kinds of unplanned news events. They can't put up signs every time.

there are two types of release forms you should have on hand when heading out to gather content, a general posting for public entry ways and a document that caters to content gathered from specific individuals.
this is an example of a general posting release:

this just needs to be posted somewhere, anywhere you are filming. but what do i know i've only been in television for a decade and have multiple emmys

There is also no game for them to purchase. A smart businesswoman would have had Revolution 60 ready by now (or at least available on ios) in order to use this episode as a form of advertising. But because Brianna was so lazy, there is no product to sell.

SHE'S WORKIN' ON IT!

This imgur gallery is suitable for sharing anywhere. Very suitable when people talk about Wu being a game developer.

He even (somewhat) clearly talks about street racing in the clips they play of the video. It's captioned as "(unintelligible)." Given the fact that it's those peoples' jobs to make sense of this kind of shit, there's no way nobody caught that. The fact that I, whose job isn't to do that, caught it proves that the "unintelligible" bullshit is just that.

This is Wu we're talking about, so dishonesty's a given, but I can't help but get a bit angry while imagining Wu specifically telling them what to transcribe and what not to. It's nothing new, but it's just so disgusting how he flat-out lies on national TV to craft his stupid narrative.
I really doubt the people making this show care what actually happened or not. The "internet will kill you and your kids" narrative has always been popular, that's all they are really playing to here. They have "scared" "women" and clips of creepy unhinged people so they are all set. It's not like anybody would be that interested in a show about idiots getting doxxed and all that happens is people call them and yell julaaay (I know we would all find that highly entertaining but it'd pretty much just be us) they have to throw in some death threats to make it really interesting even if they're obviously stupid.

The show itself also clouds her own narrative: she can either be a beacon for women in tech, molding and encouraging school leavers into STEM fields and fighting the good fight OR someone who was persecuted and brutalized because she was a woman in tech, this field is too dangerous and prejudiced for women iwasalmostkillled/streetracedplzdonatetomypatron, not both.

I love her explanation that she would go to a hotel to sleep at night then come back to her house to work during the day.

Presumably her theory is that all her death threats were from vampires, or perhaps that psychopathic killers all work long hours on at investment banks and are therefore unable to come and murder her during the day.

The Internet Ruined My Life: Brianna Wu Edition (missed the first few seconds)

Aw, fuck exercising, this gave me a 12 pack of abs from laughing so hard.
List of lies (Lord Jesus help me, this is gonna take up an entire page)/ Catch up for anyone who doesn't want to sit through this
1. John claiming to have gotten a NES as a "girl"
2. John claiming to be a girl
3. John claiming to think that the "gaming industry would represent women more" even though he was a kid.
LOL at 1:43 they forgot to censor John's real name
4. Claiming Gamergate is a hate movement focused on women and women only
2:15 John forgets to mention that he took the whining child photo from an Autism Speaks presentation, and that's why he got so much backlash.
2:34 So it's okay for John to mock GG, but when GG mocks John back, it's harassment.
3:15 John starts getting teary voiced and claims gamergate doxxed him
5. Claiming the "DeathToBrianna" account was real
6. John claiming he hid at a hotel
7. John claiming that he went to his house each day to do his "job"
8. John actually working on the game
9. John claiming he called the police
(On another note, it was 2014, you could have traced their IPs and given it to the cops if you were so afraid.)
They're acting like they're reenacting the Diary Of Anne Frank. Except John is Mr.Van Pels, and there's no real danger.
11. CLAMING THAT JACE/TYCE WERE REAL.
12. BELIEVING THAT JACE ACTUALLY CRASHED HIS CAR
13. John claiming that there were no prosecutions because of the shitty legal system (MAYBE BECAUSE YOU NEVER TOLD THEM, NOR WERE THEY CREDIBLE)
14. John claiming that every woman he knew was scared
15. John claiming that he'd do it over again for the sake of women (and to be famous for about 5 minutes)
16. Claiming Peach was the strongest character, despite her being equal with everyone else in gameplay.

This is patent bullshit, but I'll give Wu credit, there is a tactical reason for saying he's avoiding watching this shit.

As outlined in the last few pages, it's FULL of easily refutable, outlandish bullshit, retarded even by SyFy sensationalizing standards, and if it ever gets fact checked by anyone halfway reputable, Wu will be called a fucking fraud eight ways to Sunday.

By going out of his way to avoiding looking at it (or claiming to) and letting OTHER people comment on it while not saying a word on it himself, he can thus have plausible deniability if the bullshit is called out and throw SyFy under the bus for making him look bad if it comes to that.
If that's true, then Wu must have never play-tested Rev60.

!!!INCOMING BUTTHURT WAVE!!!
Prepare your French Fries for the salt!

John deleted two tweets just now, less than 10 minutes after sending them. He is bitching at that guy he got butthurt about. https://twitter.com/matthewkenealy/with_replies

No, it's not. It's a petty issue that only deals with morons like you taking mean words on Twitter seriously.
We thought the ride had ended.
We were wrong.
Wu was wrong.
The ride will never end, as long as Wu does something completely asstarded to keep it running.
This fuel will only last, I dunno, about 3 weeks at the most. I'm calling that.

Within time, the only people keeping attention on Wu will be the likes of Kiwi's and other individuals that like to see what rambling she post along with any white-knights that are giving her their attention. The general public, that is those that watched the episode from Syfy will go back to what they do, be it their normal lives or watching b-movies of Syfy.

She's been neutered pretty well by this place. Her reputation has long been shattered through the reveal and a lot more. It's a hilarious roller coaster of a decline for this batshit loon.
